Default The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (BotH [#0301-#0400]) [Semi #1]

Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

Over the next few days, we're taking a bit of a break and entering The Best of the Hundred Tournament for Comics #301 - #400 as we take the time to decide which of the strips really are the best of best.

For full details about the Stick Awards, and any questions about them, please check out the main thread here.

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here.

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the five listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting, which only lasts five days during the Best of the Hundred Tournament will close on April 27th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

The winner of this semi-final will go on to the finals which will be held after the second semi-final is done. The two strips that get the most votes during the semis that DIDN'T win, will also reach the finals. So voting is extra special important this time around, as it will determine who the 'Wild Card' entrants are.

Last week, 393 - Truth shouted out to the heavens that it would stop with these BLANKITY-BLANK cryptograms because it loved winning this award so much. And who can argue with logic like that? Not me, that's for sure. And so in to the tournament it goes.

Ah? But who will the winner of the tournament be? Let's find out.

The lines have been drawn. The field selected. And the battle has commenced. All we need now are the judges to arrive and render their verdict in who should move on in.....

    ................THE STICK AWARDS II:
BEST OF THE HUNDRED TOURNAMENT (301-400)
    ..............(Semi-Final #1)

No tough decisions here, #344 was the only one I've voted for in the previous rounds.

Really though decision. The only clear thing that I will not vote for 344.

Between the others, all have some real nice arguments going: The surprising death of Milk Dudes. "The Event". Solving a nice puzzle with brute force. And last but not least Nale's epic Sending shenanigans.

And in the end, my vote goes to 337 - Brief and to the Point!

Hmmm... tough choice. On the one hand, the Sending gag with Nale is still one of my favorite OotS jokes, but on the other han-THA TREES BE ATTACKING! RUN FER YER LIVES!!!

*huff huff* with that considered, I'm voting for #344.

Those are all pretty good choices, but 301 has always had a special place in my heart. Or maybe my stomach. Somewhere thereabouts.

Hm, these were all decent (except 301, which I still don't like), but 337 was the best for me.

Wow, it had totally slipped my mind we were due for a best of 100. This is the first one were I actually participated in all the best of 10 rounds! Looking upthread, I see lots of differing opinions, so I think this one will be close.

With that out of the way, I will vote for 344.

Really disappointed in the choices in this poll. I don't think I voted for any of these.

I guess I'll go with 337: Brief and to the Point. Probably one of Nale's funniest strips (no matter how much the humor is at his expense), which slightly beats out the wackiness of the attacking trees in 344, at least in my book.

Has to be 316. Don't care much for the Haley/Elan portion, but this page has the demihuman trio at its finest.

Wow, poor 301 has to compete against actual plot relevant strips. Poor, poor 301.

Anyway, I think 337 is the best of the bunch, but I need to go with327 just because "don't bite me" is the best quote ever.

337 is a bit above 344, but there is nothing really outstanding here. The 2nd half should swamp them.

    301, 337, and 344 are all great, with 337 and 344 a bit ahead of 301. I guess I'll decide via coin flip: #337.

Brutal set of choices this week. All of these strips are worthy of the awards they won, even though they represent different aspects of what makes The Order of the Stick great. So, have to whittle this down somehow.

316 is the first on the chopping block for me. It's good. Even great. But it doesn't quite shine as much as the rest. Plus it's depressing. Phooey for that. Next up to eliminate is 344. Yes, it's funny. Yes, it's memorable. Yes, it gave us one of the great all time lines. Still, just a shade under the Top Three in my book for this week.

    *tap tap tap*
    *tap tap tap*
    *tap tap tap*

Do I have to make a choice between 327, 337, and 301? They're all fantastic. 301 is one of my all time favorites. I've gone on long enough about why, so I'll spare you now. 337 resonates with anyone who has had to deal with the arbitrary rules and customs of society. Or dealt with telephone hell. But I think I will vote for 32-....

Awwww, don't look at me that way, 301. You know I love ya, baby. But 327 needs some lovin' to. It's a classic after all. And I love me my Oracle strips after all. Maybe if others had given you some time this week, I'd push you into the finals. But as it is, that's where my vote lies this time.

See ya in another contest, brother.

    And with that.....

    VOTING IS NOW CLOSED!

337 - Brief and to the Point is the winner of this semi-final! It now moves on to the finals for the Best of the Hundred tournament (301-400).

344 A Walk in the Park is currently holding down Wild Card spot #1 with 6 votes and 327 - The Test of the Mind is currently holding down Wild Card spot #2 with 5 votes.
