Rules

1. Spam. For the purposes of RB, one word posts are generally considered spam. Likewise, posts that are nothing but *actions like this* are also be considered spam. Remember that the quality of the post's content is much better than the speed of your response.

2. This isn't the Play by Post or Town forum, nor is it the Silly Message Board Games or Structured Games forum. Please avoid continuous roleplay or mock battles and fights such as the "competition for control of the universe".

3. If it's already a thread, don't bring it to RB. RB has such a huge range of subject matter even restricted to the little snippets that probably don't warrant their own thread, it doesn't need legitimate thread topics cluttering it up as well. The exception to this is to bring something that is off-topic from one thread, but on-topic for RB and the subject doesn't warrant a thread of its own.

4. Don't advertise other threads in RB. Just because these new threads move at speeds more appropriate to a message board than an IM session doesn't mean you need to come over to RB and brow beat people into posting in your latest brainchild.

5. Please don't post single line posts alerting us to your current status -- as in "I'm back." This is Random Banter, not "How to stalk Random GitP forum members."

6. Don't poke, kick or bump the thread. It will move at whatever pace it wants to. Also, please refrain from Captain Obvious comments akin to "My, the thread is fast today."

7. Random Banter can only be as good, or as entertaining, as you make it. Demands to be entertained will fall on deaf ears unless you can add something more meaningful to the conversation.

8. As this is a public forum, where the current topic is nicely recorded for you, and not a conversation where you could have missed the beginning, please refrain from asking something to the effect of "What's the topic?". Please take the time to read up a bit first.

9. Thread Creator must include the words "Random" and "Banter" as well as the thread #. Try to be concise as well.

10. Every post should contain two visible, legible complete sentences, Subject and Predicate. C'mon, make your old English teachers proud.

11. Remember, Random Banter is not your IM client. If you want to have a back and forth discussion with just one person, look in their contact information for IM details.

12. Whenever a new thread is created, all "first post", "first page", and all posts of that nature will be deleted by the administrators. Please avoid doing this, as it is frustrating for them to deal with one-lined posts like this.

13. Double-posting is not your friend. We have edit buttons for a reason.

And here, linked for your convenience, are the previous incarnations of this thread.

Anyone here enjoy their work?

Speaking of Scribblenauts, I have played a game made by the same company known as Drawn to Life. It is an interesting game, as your drawn the objects rather than giving the name of the object.

You know, I really hate InkScape. Wrestling together my latest IA submission was a chore and a half for no good reason--the controls are needlessly twitchy, clunky, and arbitrary.

I guess it beats paying for Illustrator.

Well, I just had my first practice with my new band... I'm so out of my league! These guys could write a symphony in their sleep. :smalleek: I mean, it's great being in a group with people who're good at what they do, but it's intimidating as hell.

*smacks TPAB, TPAH, TPAH, and TPAH*

Welp, that was embarrassingly long and drawn out.

How is everyone this evening?

I'm feeling peachy keen and torn between wanting to get a new girl and getting back with my ex.

...And playing the 2nd generation of pokemon games for the first time ever.

Sign of insecurity. Be confident in yourself then worry about relationships later.

Plutzer Zero isn't entirely wrong, y'know. No need to rush these things--step away from your desire to be in a relationship and proceed as your situation and attractions warrant. I couldn't for the life of me think of a good insult starting with P, so I went my usual route of making s*** up.

Zayer Peero? Plutzer Zero?

Next it'll be Layer Ero. And I don't wanna be around when that happens. I told you, Rutskarn, it ain't happening between us. Not now. Not ever. And your fruity nicknames for me won't endear your way into my bedchambers.

Coming up with nonsensical appellations is the preferred method of courtship amongst my people, bigot.

It's second only to exploiting deep-set racial unease in your target to guilt them into the sack.

Yeah, It's just been about a year now (which, considering how wonky it was, might only properly count as half a year) and I haven't really had a rebound fling or anything.

I really just wanna get out of the house and do something on a saturday night though. I miss dancing too, I need to definitely get started taking lessons again...

If staying in on a Saturday night was bad for your mental health I would've gone insane years ago. You'll be fine.

I continue with my irrational tearing down of the things that you do!

A man need not take lessons to dance! Just do what I do--let your body flow into the music. Become a spasmic, limb-rolling, leg-kicking hurricane that impresses those who look upon you through its sheer audacity. Ride the fine line between attracting mockery and respect. Become the king of the dance floor.

Also: @Zero: What do you mean, would have, oh-ho, etc.

I don't have time to watch it now, but I've heard it's absolutely horrendous. And it's supposedly canon too? The established canon for Star Wars is huge and includes lots of absolutely ridiculous stuff... I have to say, that's why I never got into the Star Wars tabletop RPG: I hate just ignoring established fact (aka canon), but canon seemed to stifle more ideas for me than it inspired.

Necrons are probably the worst now. Their guass guns do nothing to tanks due to the new rules (only one or two units have ever had 2+ saves) and every other army has at least one unit with the ability to get back up again like the necrons can.

Space wolves are and always have been the best. My old mechanised space wolf force was the greatest thing ever. They only lost once, and that was because my friend's dreadnaught exploded at them and I failed every save.

Yep. They were just Terminators (not Space Marine ones, the movie versions).

But killing 75% of a group who had 2+ saves was pretty difficult considering that on average, 1/6 of them would get back up, and only 1/6 of them would be permanently destroyed.

Ahh, Necrons... I remember fighting a group of Space Marines with them once, under the old rules...

*Sniff* It was so cool...

Only had one Heavy Destroyer, though, so I only had one "You have armour, huh? Well, I don't care" shot per turn. But that Necron Lord can be dangerous, given the right Wargear. Staff of Light may give three shots a turn, but as he can pretty much teleport all the way across the battlefield, upgrading it is my favourite option.

You know what I'm stuck on? The Elite Four Champion of Pokemon Pearl. The rest of the E4 is deceivingly wimpy, but she's actually competent. Her competence may be my undoing...

Spiritomb needs to be hit hard and fast. (I used Thunderpunch on my Electivire, which even at Level 72 takes 2 hits to finish it)
Ice attacks will take care of Garchomp and Roserade.
Electric attacks solve Milotic
Fire, Fighting (Infernape is perfect for this) and Ground (Torterra) attacks solve Lucario.
Gastrodon can be solved by a whopping Grass attack (Torterra) again.

I've only beaten her on Platinum (where she has Togekiss instead of Gastrodon). I used Electivire (Ice Punch, Thunderpunch, Thunderbolt, Strength) and Infernape (Close Combat, Mach Punch, Flare Blitz, Flamethrower).
Electivire was Level 64 by that point and Infernape was Level 62.
I used two Thunderpunches on Spiritomb and one on Milotic.
I then went through Garchomp, Roserade and Togekiss with 3 Ice Punches.
And then I finished Lucario with Flare Blitz.
You'll have a harder time (because Togekiss shares so many weaknesses with her other Pokemon while Gastrodon doesn't), but you shouldn't have too much trouble.

And to be honest, when I faced the Elite 4 in Platinum, I found Cynthia to be the third easiest out of the lot.
Aaron was simple, I just used Infernape and Torterra. 2/5 difficulty (only because of Drapion's Ice Fang).
Bertha gave me trouble considering that all of her Pokemon had electric/fire/ice moves. (Gliscor KO'd Gyarados in one with a ThunderFang) 3/5 difficulty.
Flint was the second hardest in my opinion (Magmortar Thunderpunched Gyarados and 1-hit KO'd, leaving Alakazam and Torterra to wade out the rest). 4/5 difficulty.
And remarkably, the hardest was Lucian, as a lot of his Pokemon took multiple super effective hits to bring down (especially Espeon in this case) and all of them had attacks that hurt like hell (such as Psychic and Stone Edge, which hurt a lot considering I was using Gyarados with Bite and Torterra with Crunch). 4/5 difficulty.

But I'm having my best run though yet. I just walled Milotic with Palkia while I healed my entire team to full. And Spiritomb, Garchomp and Roserade are all down. So now its 6v3, and Milotic's paralyzed. I think I will win this time around.

Well, I went in with:
Electivire Level 60
Infernape Level 60
Torterra Level 60 (Earthquake, Razor Leaf, Crunch, Giga Drain)
Gyarados Level 60 (IT FAINTED 4 FLIPPING TIMES! Gliscor, Magmortar, Infernape and Mr.Mime all had Electric attacks.) (Surf, Hyper Beam, Bite, Ice Fang)
Staraptor Level 57 (Close Combat, Fly, Wing Attack, Aerial Ace)

I later found out that using Staraptor on Gallade made things a lot easier. :smallsigh:
Alakazam Level 60
I wasn't taking any chances.
I'd recommend getting a thunderstone if you can, so that your Pikachu gets the much-needed stat boosts of evolving into Raichu.

So right now, you're facing:
Gastrodon (L.v 60), Lucario (L.v 63) and Milotic (L.v 63).
Pikachu should be able to handle her Milotic, especially if it's paralyzed. Just go all out.
You're Infernape should be able to handle Lucario (I think).
And for Gastrodon, well, I can't see any type advantage you could have there (which considering the gap in levels is very important for you). Just go all out on it with Crobat, Palkia or Garchomp (all of which have x1 effectiveness with STAB moves) and hope for the best.
That's all I can say.
I rarely ever go into the League without Level 55+ Pokemon. As I know that by the end, my Pokemon will have only gained 1, 2, possibly 3 levels. I mean, even Aaron starts with Level 53 Pokemon (49 in Platinum).

Simple my boy. The Nuclear Squirrel Launcher (NSL for short) is THE deadliest weapon on the planet, and one of the few weapons capable of killing a bloodthirsty possessed elephant which can eat an adult dwarf and spit out its bones in 8 seconds.

And it can be yours for the low low price of £29.99.

EDIT: Coidzor, this is Squirrel Girl.

Five Six Ways to Kill a Man
There are many cumbersome ways to kill a man.
You can make him carry a plank of wood
to the top of a hill and nail him to it.
To do this properly you require a crowd of people
wearing sandals, a **** that crows, a cloak
to dissect, a sponge, some vinegar and one
man to hammer the nails home.

Or you can take a length of steel,
shaped and chased in a traditional way,
and attempt to pierce the metal cage he wears.
But for this you need white horses,
English trees, men with bows and arrows,
at least two flags, a prince, and a
castle to hold your banquet in.

Dispensing with nobility, you may, if the wind
allows, blow gas at him. But then you need
a mile of mud sliced through with ditches,
not to mention black boots, bomb craters,
more mud, a plague of rats, a dozen songs
and some round hats made of steel.

In an age of aeroplanes, you may fly
miles above your victim and dispose of him by
pressing one small switch. All you then
require is an ocean to separate you, two
systems of government, a nation's scientists,
several factories, a psychopath and
land that no-one needs for several years.

You may also, if you please
Purchase a nuclear squirrel launcher,
which is capable of killing a bloodthirsty
possessed elephant. But for that you need
£29.99, enough money to cover shipping costs
and a good supply of nuclear squirrels.

These are, as I began, cumbersome ways to kill a man.
Simpler, direct, and much more neat is to see
that he is living somewhere in the middle
of the twentieth century, and leave him there.

You know what I'm stuck on? The Elite Four Champion of Pokemon Pearl. The rest of the E4 is deceivingly wimpy, but she's actually competent. Her competence may be my undoing...
Milotic is a pain, but is deliciously vulnerable to using Grass Knot (I took it out with my Roselia).
With the rest, I simply brow beat them with dominant attack types or resorted to the tried-and-true, age-old tactic of "Rapidash used FIRE BLAST".

Edit:
Also, Aussies are awesome and this opinion has nothing whatsoever to do with the one I'm dating stating behind me.

Loads of fireworks been going off recently, no idea why. But very fun to look out, the smell is great too.

It's possible that they just forgot to switch their phones off after they landed, or maybe they were delayed.

They're probably on the flight - maybe it's been delayed - and their phones are switched off. Do you know the airline? Even if you don't know the flight number you could probably figure it out and check the flight status online from their webpage. A lot of airlines do provide that service.

I wouldn't worry too much about them not being at the airport already. Only 74% of flights land on time, and it's rare that anything's wrong with planes serious enough for anything to result.

And I would imagine that if something happened to your dad, you'd be in the loop; unless it happened on the flight in which case no-one but those on board would know (if anyone did).

Well, my sister is at med school in Gran Cayman. My parents went to visit her this weekend, and I went to Savannah to help my friend move into his apartment. I don't really remember what all they said about when they got back, I just know it's today.

This friend is someone from her med school, I think. So it's entirely possible something DID happen. I know the reason my sister's phone is off is so she can avoid long distance call charges. My parents might be on the plane home, or any number of things could have happened.

Mind, I still worry, anyway. Just trying to keep busy and not think. *hugs*

Thanks, guys.

I'm sure he's fine. If it was anything serious, they would have made you aware of what happened.

From what you've told us, it sounds like there might have been a minor accident. Possibly involving light injury (but as I said above, certainly not anything major). Your sister would know because she was there, and it seems likely that she told this to a friend (Taylor, whoever that is). This Taylor told another friend, who then contacted your sister over Facebook. This is the message that you saw.

There can't be too many flights a day from Gran Cayman. It should be relatively easy to google and figure out when you should be expecting them back. Remember, no panicking until the flight has landed and you've left plenty of time for them to get through the airport and home. (It always takes ages to get out of airports, especially if you have checked luggage.)

Something else you could maybe try googling - not that you're going to use it or need it, but just for reassurance - might be a landline number for your sister's dorm or college department.

Then, go and play games or call a friend to chat while you wait.

Well, I just got a phone call. They were on the plane, that's why their phones were off.

Apparently, yesterday, my dad passed out while with my mom and sister. And since my mom said she had to do CPR on him, I almost wonder if he stopped breathing. And they had to go to the ER for a while. But he's better now. So that's good.

Just wish someone had thought to inform me. >.<

I'm sure its nothing, Cobra. Don't dwell on it - if something were wrong, there'd be nothing you could do right now anyway, so there's no point in stressing over things you can't change. EDIT: Hey! The problem righted itself while I was typing! Hurray!

CPR means no breathing, no pulse. Essentially dead, just doesn't know it yet.

...unless you're going by new CPR rules in which case it could have just been choking on something, and don't worry about breathing. :smallsigh:
