I HATED making this comic

I REALLY REALLY hated it. I've done well over 650 comics and there have been ones I loved, ones I disliked, some that I hated making but turned out to be amazing and some that I thought would be brilliant but turned out to be crap.

But this...THIS....UGH!! ALL OF MY HATE!! ALL OF IT!! The only stipulation is that it's over and it's here instead of under construction in my comic creation file :smallfurious:

For all that acting Rand tries to do, it sure didn't attract attention.

Then again actual strongmen have to physically strain their muscles, which generally has a more genuine reaction to mages who use spells. I know by experience. :smalltongue: (great job with this page, as usual)

As for the spell, well, you can make the argument it comes from the Bigby's Hand line of spells such as Bigby's Crushing Hand (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/spells/crushingHand.htm), but I can assure you that this spell was in existance in this comic before I was even aware these spells existed in D&D :smalltongue: I would argue Rand's variant is more versatile as well.

As such, it's best to consider it as one of Rand's many unnamed spells.

What actually happened was that they ran into a pipe that, when cut, began to spill liquid nitrogen AKA the opposite of lava. But given that I wanted to do more minecraft refences, lava works better. :smalltongue:

It does, however, make me want to see other characters drunk, including the probably "not physically capable of getting inebriate" Custodes. And if they are, they would probably require a sun made of pure ethanol. Each.

Anyways, allow me to double-apologize. This comic took a lot longer than it should have. Largely what happened is that I couldn't settle on dialogue that I liked so I was rewriting it CONSTANTLY. For this reason and the reason of my second apology, this comic is a lot less funny than I would like it to be regardless I did everything I wanted to, so hopefully it sets up plot decently enough.

With the exception of Qaeviir (aka The Luvdisc who basically only did one semi-useful thing the entire scene) Alicia (The Khorne Guy) was the only one in the party without Power Armor. Hence, she appears smaller and weaker than she actually is. Omnissiah's sake, our Heretek wore Terminator Armor! To her credit Alicia was a monster in melee.

Short version: giant hive mind space locusts. They don't talk. That's a zoanthrope, which can direcly channel the Hive Mind's psychic might.

To be fair I haven't written Marnia talking in a while and I should probably brush up on my shakespearean dialect, but I wrote it as I believe I always have, whether or not it's more complicated, well...just assume she always talks like that. Because she does.

And since all of the one feedback i've gotten is positive, i'll continue playing with composition. This time, I threw in an odd angle (fish-eye lens?) into the mix. Again, let me know what you think.

The reason this one took so long is because I had so much trouble deciding on the direction and dialogue. For this reason, here's an alternate Comic 621 (http://postimg.org/image/9t4o76uhz/) featuring 4 new panels plus the first two from the normal comic. I ultimately scrapped these first 4 because it had Princess Marnia acting too conniving for my tastes, being ultimately willing to use a friend as a meat-shield (minus the meat) and I felt there was a bit of a pacing problem. If there's incongruity in the dialogue here, it's probably because they WERE more congruent at one point but I edited the dialogue when I made the decision to scrap those 4 panels so as to not have to rely on them.

Furthermore you might notice I recycled some dialogue, background, and poses. :smalltongue:

Regarding 631: It's not that I couldn't tell that the frigate was shooting at the apocalypse, and I realize that the laser is brightening everything and changing the color of everything, but what's supposed to be the apocalypse ship (and the complete darkness behind it) in the last pannel looks weird to me. It's like it doesn't blend well in it, and looks a bit out of place. Can't really explain it better than that.

But it might as well just be me, so don't work extra hard on it.

I think I get the idea. The amount of detail put on the laser and the fact that it's not only centered, but framed puts all focus onto it, making everything else seem plain and insignificant. What details could have been placed to make either ship more readily identifiable are either not present or too subtle to be noticed.

I thought I had made it clear before. The plan was Tau Railguns + Eternus Frigate Cannon = Destroyed Apocalypse. Since the Frigate was KO'd, the Railguns were set up as plan B, and those turned out to be ineffective.

To keep the cops busy, the termie (arnold) walks out with a minigun and blasts at the cops and their vehicles for a good two minutes. In complying with John Connor's order from earlier in the movie, he avoids killing any cops. The camera cuts to the Termie's perspective, where he scans the casualties and it reads "0.00."

It has ALWAYS amused me that whoever designed the termies felt the need to give that particular readout a decimal counter, as though SkyNet or whoever thought that at some point, someone might be 1% dead or 34% dead. Hell, what does 99% dead look like?

Tzeentch is really terrible at keeping time, but you can't really judge him. Where he comes from, the only measure of time is Khorne repeating speech of "MAIM! KILL! BURN!".

By a result of his own nature, Tzeentch sometimes tricks Khornates into speaking corruptions of the chant. Doing so also throws off Tzeentch's sense of timing (that and he can't count and scheme at the same time, that's Kairos Fateweaver's job.) and there is enough evidence to make the case that Tzeentch is responsible for the whole "Thrones for the Throne Skull" incident.

Who's to say the Burning of Prospero didn't occur on a tuesday?

Doesn't really advance the plot, but I'd say it goes to help show that the Custodes... aren't taking the death of their brother well.

Also, on unrelated matters, Rich apparently changed the art style on OotS. I am considering doing the same, though moving closer to the direction of the art of the dragons and the Custodes, using my own art style. I want to know what you think. To give you a sample, here's a side-by-side comparison with Princess Marnia in similar poses. My variation of OotS style on the right, proposed new style on the left.

I'm sure you'll note at least two of the changes relatively quickly. I'll be uploading new pics as I make new comics, I appreciate all the feedback I get. Do note that Madness characters like Xeno won't be affected, and characters that are already not drawn in OotS style (strictly speaking) like Jeroshaw or the Custodes won't be touched either.

edit: I noted that the crown makes the eye-lashes on Marnia extremely hard to notice. I'll work on that.

The image to the left makes me think the head is too large for the body, which doesn't happen for the usual art-style despite the head being roughly the same size. But it might be because I'm used to one, and not to the other. I do like the new detail, and I think at least the lizzard characters would benefit greatly from this new art.
But, definitely, one example is not enough to make a good opinion.

It does look interesting, and I think you should go ahead with it for a while if you want to try it. Later on, you can go back if it doesn't work, but that's irrelevant.

Marnia: The latest iteration gives her a slightly shrunken head and thinner body. This definitely looks the best IMO.

SRB: The body is unchanged, predictably, but IMO the updated head is more expressive and versatile. Note the gorget (neck guard) as well, including its absense in the OotS model.

Cannon Fodder: Because when you have a meltagun, everything looks like a tank. Looks good IMO, but the feet and legs seem disporportionately wide and large to me. It works, I think, but I might want to play with porportions a bit. The eyes also seem too visually noisy, i'm curious what you think.
