Thread for OOC stuff related to the ACRONYM organizations - AMEN, GLoG, HALO, NO, PEACE etc. or ACRONYM locations in general.

If you're curious, ACRONYM stands for Associated Crazy and Redundant Organizations Needlessly Yearning Meaning. It's hard to define exactly what makes an ACRONYM, but they all share the following characteristics.

It's hard to define exactly what makes an ACRONYM, but they all share the following characteristics:
Their name is an acronym.
They tend to revolve around some sort of common trait shared by most of their members - in most cases, this is alignment, but we've had at least one organization that allowed only female characters.
They are roleplaying games, obviously.
They have one thread which is their "main" or "HQ" thread, which are usually numbered in Roman numerals and has a different, witty title for each new thread, and occasionally have spin-off threads for plots that take place outside of the base.
All the ACRONYMs exist in a sort of shared multiverse.

A few of the ACRONYMs include:

AMEN - The Association of Malicious, Evil, and Nefarious. The original ACRONYM group, and the longest running (if not the one with the most threads). Wacky, crazy, and often needlessly violent. Enter at your own risk.
HALO - The Heroic, Anti-Evil and Lawbreaking Organization. The first good-centered ACRONYM which survived more than a few threads. Currently holds the record for most threads. Formerly arch-enemies of AMEN.
GLoG - The Good League of Good. Their name comes from The Evil League of Evil, from Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog. (http://drhorrible.com/) The second good-centered organization to survive. Why two good organizations? There are distinct roleplaying differences between the two. If you want to join a good organization, I'd recommend trying out both and seeing which fits your likes better.
NO - The Neutralist Organization. Where gray is the new black. Very neutral.
PEACE - A semi-serious roleplaying organisation for evildoers, where plot is tolerated, and stamped on less than in AMEN.
WATCHTOWER - An organization separate from GLoG or HALO, dedicated to stamping whoever the apocalypse bringer of the week is. Alignment does not matter, the only requirement is that you not be an omnicidal maniac. Though considering the IC founder, this too, is to be treated as more of a guideline.

Don't like any of the choices? Want to make your own? Read these rules first.

Acronym organizations are NOT Cliques, Clubs, or FanGroups. They are Role-Playing Games. Please start one only if you and a certain group of people have intent of following it through. If it's for the sake of having something in your sig, make up a club, gather friends, and sig it.
Acronym Organizations should be open. As per forum rules, nobody is to be denied admittance into our circle. Note: this is referring to players, not characters, it's perfectly reasonable to not allow evil characters in your good organization (unless they want to become good, but that's besides the point) but you can't not allow a player to join.
If Rule 1 is met by your intentions, please make sure none of the existing organizations fit your Role-Playing Necessities. Organizations based around the same thing should be significantly different in style, i.e. HALO and GLoG.
If a plot within an existent organization requires the creation of a new organization, remember that it is not necessary to create the organization OOC. Organizations can be created fully IC within the bounds of another organization, for example, AMEN's TESTAMENT.
It's not Personal, it's ACRONYM. As much as our characters may fight each other, remember we're all friends here and just want to have fun with each other.

ACRONYM Shack: You've got questions, we've got answers.
Q: Hey, why isn't my organization on the big shiny list?
A: Probably because it hasn't gotten to two threads yet. We love new ACRONYMs, we really do, but frankly, if it can't survive for two threads, it doesn't get to go in the big shiny index.

You can take out the power of 3 (or write it ^3) and loge is considered the same as In, so that's that solved.

*300 joke*

You did that completely wrong--or rather, you didn't appropriate it correctly. See, just because someone has "madness" in a sentence doesn't mean you should make the joke. No. You can, but it's much less funny than it already is (which isn't all that much since it's more cliché than a fedora at a hat convention). Now, had KK said some variation of the particular line from "300" (I'm not saying it) then you would have had a very good opportunity to use your response that you did, AND it would have been appropriate.

I hope you learned your lesson on madness.

Oh! And never forget to-*kicks horngeek into a pit*

Our house is really open design, with windows/glass doors everywhere, so we get a wholebunch of fun things coming in. Most recently I think, was a sort of large raven-like creature that swooped in through an open window and nearly broke its neck on one that wasn't.

horngeek
2010-03-06, 07:20 PM
Well, the possum actually got in through the courtyard- it's partially open now.

And we forgot to close the glass doors, so...

KK: We actually had a bird fly into our family room window when we were eating dinner once. Knocked itself out.

Of course, then there's a story my parents tell. When I was little, we went for a picnic in the park. I was holding a sausage sandwich, and just as I was about to eat it, a kookaburra swooped down and snatched it right out of my hands. :smalltongue:

Hmm... I've never had the pleasure to RP with you. From what I've seen, that leaves me disappointed with myself.

Boo, you make me smile. So when do I get to RP with you? none of my characters have ever met any of yours.

It's because my characters are scarce, and I tend to keep clones away from my play. It may limit my ability to RP with everyone, but it's a choice I've made. Even in the event of plot-clones, I dislike making them. I've decided to stop that entirely.

Or rather, two versions of the guy. Yep. Daisuke. Both the ACRO one and the BleachitP one.

If I started it now, the BleachitP one would start:

"As I write this, I am on fire."

He is! :smalltongue:

Either that, or I have it under my horngeek name, and have blogs from my point of view and blogs from various character's points of view. For example, I might have one from Meidani one day (and not necessarily the ACRO one, either. She's going to be in an actual game of Exalted now. :smalltongue:), one from Haruka (NarutoitP) the next, and one from BleachitP Takeshi the next.

I'd make a blog for my characters, except Phoenix would be impossible to write, Johannes and Jazirian would drive everyone nuts with endless optimism (and MANLINESS!) and my other characters... well, do you really want to know what happens in KR's mind? Or Apostle's or Merakai's or Khiansa's or Orson's for that matter? Plus, I'd probably end up on some government watchlist.
Of course, I could do a blog for Zara perfectly well only the E, C, H and O keys would break. Oh, and I'm too lazy. :smalltongue:

Arg. KR is a bit less openly psychotic than a few of my other characters. Her particular breed of mass-murder is more cold, rather than hot like say, Apostle or KR-15, and mayhaps has a less creepifying and stalkerish motivation than Orson. And she is fun to write.
Except if I gave her a blog I'd be too tempted to give out spoilers for the upcoming... 3 plots she's involved in or knows of. Yes.... she has her eyes on many things.

http://public5.tektek.org/img/av/1003/d07/1207/01d3313.png (http://tektek.org/avatar/35258320)
Whom origially had a crush on Raistlin, married Mike, is mother of Patty who came back from the future (and possibly a second, male, child from the future*), but with Mike being perma-deadtimed, has essentially gotten a permadeadtime divorce and is now with Angela. Although she still crushes on Tobias.

* Was to have been played by Mike's player. See aforementioned permadeadtime. :smallfrown:

Then, we have Erin aka Town-Erin:
http://img410.imageshack.us/img410/8728/erinx2.png
...who now has eyes even more blue than that. Anyway, she was the 'original' from Enup, who tumbled through a portal there, promptly crushed on Melantha, wound up falling deeply into soulmate love with Maia the silver dragon, had her leave, then came back, more loving, she left again...then Erin lost her powers through getting too angry...then that crush got exploited. Feeling horrible, she fled Enup and came here, now that crush might be about to be exploited again...

Far-taint permitting, of course. :smallamused:

Erin also appeared in Modern Town as her future self, but her connection from her current self to that has now been severed, so technically, I guess you could say There Are Three Erins.

...now, I said technically, didn't I? Well, see, that bit about Town-Erin's powers getting lost? It was like her ghost half detached from her. Originally I planned on having said ghost half join LOVE over there, but it died before it could happen, so it was here that we were introduced to...Arina:
http://public5.tektek.org/img/av/1003/d07/1216/0cf4202.png (http://tektek.org/avatar/35258548)
...who is sadistic, masochistic, moral-less, out to kidnap and torture her "weak ghost half" (and all her friends and her little dog, too), and is also rather more like Erin than she would ever admit, in addition to being the Black Fox's protege/plaything. (And having bright red eyes behind those glasses.)

Hello. Some of you may remember me, I'm the one who tried to be a member of this ("this" being FFRP in general) twice and failed, having much too much stuff, real-life stuff, computer stuff, you name it, to do. I would like to join...again...or try to. I have no idea what to do first. And honestly, where do you find/make/whatever those awesome images for characters in The Bushranger's "Three Erins" post, six posts above this one?
Never mind, found it.

Welcome! Welcome!

You can make tekteks here (http://www.tektek.org/dream/). Warning... it's really really hard to make a male character who doesn't look like an 8 year old.

Here's a couple recent ones I'm proud of:

Tia the Inamorata Succubus:

Are you kidding me? the Zee/Dyna/Memzee shell game is a total sham! Think about it! Everyone knows that they're all alternate identities of Calublufiok. And have you noticed that you never see Zee and Reinholdt together? And that Erin has started to act very strangely? They obviously don’t want this story getting out. I mean, what would happen if people began asking how many different variations of Zee have existed?? Well, they may be able to fool the sheeple, but the members of GLoG aren't swallowing their story. Look, don’t take it from me; Magtok and DC are convinced as well. But we have to act fast, because soon the plot clones of Zee will outnumber the rest of the PCs combined. I just wanted you to be aware of this, in case I disappear.

Krugzim, Reelshka and Grimzig undeadtime. They'd rather go to Trog's, but Taverna Generica is mercifully free of Exalts.

Mercifully.

Can you guys lay off on the Exalted characters? It is seriously starting to get old. You have made it abundantly clear to those of us who play them that you don't like it when Exalted get involved in your plots and whatnot. So we keep to ourselves and make our own plots. Then you complain that we're in threads playing our characters and running our plots where, heaven forbid, you can see and hear us doing it. I half expect to start reading "Exalted are the cancer that is killing /b/ FFRP" here in the OOC. If you're going to complain about us no matter what we do, then maybe we'll stop being nice and keeping to ourselves and give you something real to complain about.

Hey, I tried working with Exalted characters. I wanted to give them a chance. I attempted to join the plot with elemental monks, don't you remember? But then noone even asked Wenomir if he wants to come along when the rest went to chase them. So I'm actually annoyed at them never interacting with anyone non-Exalted. Yes, the "mercifully free of Exalts" jab wasn't nice, but I'm still a bit angry after that. In different circumstances, it'd be just me not wanting to stick my noncombatants in the middle of a high-powered fight.

You're right to feel a bit miffed at us. When I quoted your post, I meant to use it as an example of the attitude I've seen from several people here in FFRP - like from Reinholdt, whom I also quoted. AuxCave

Because the two of them flew right into that telewarp tunnel so hastily, a new upgrade to AuxCave security, a nasty little spike designed to lodge itself into the foot of unexpected intruders, happens to be lodged just underneath one of Maggy's lungs at the moment. It's rather painful, but seeing as Elly seems to be in a good mood at the moment, the cyborg decides to let it go unmentioned.

And it just seems to get more and more exciting every minute, doesn't it?

Swiftly using that utterly meaningless reply to buy him just a moment's distraction, Magtok picks himself back up.

He immediately whirls about, momentarily shoving his fears and personal issues aside. Hopefully moving just fast enough to keep the catgirl's attention away from his gruesome chest injury (Shapeshifting can only move so fast to hide such a mess), Magtok closes his eyes to block out his simmering terror and nervousness, leans in, and attempts what may be the first passionate kiss this RPer has ever had to type out. All across the Nexus, thousands of Magtoks, indeed all of them, stop whatever they are doing as obedience chips imbedded within their brains switch on and a single command surges through the Magnet. As a single organism they turn to face in the direction of the Magcave from wherever they are and open their mouths. And sing. But not a disjointed smattering of whatever they want. No, they all song one song. Frere Jacques. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGVPNAaioR4) They sing it with perfect harmony, breaking into a thousand part round, embellishing it with expert skills as a single unified voice rises to fill the air. All but one Magtok, that is. The original. He finds himself the only one not compelled to sing. It might be a disquieting feeling.

At the same time this madness is occurring, dark clouds start to sweep across the sky, blackening the nexus. Lightning cracks and thunder booms. More lightning, strange and unnatural this time. And even more. The discharges come faster and shorter lived, snapping and flashing with oddly specific strobbing patterns. And lagging behind this comes the thunder. Thunder… unlike any before. The specific patterns of the lightning result in rolling thunder that mixes and overlaps to for discernable patterns that soon resolve themselves into a voice. A recognizable one. The voice of Miss Elizabeth Kale.

Testing. Testing. Ah, there we go. I apologize for the somewhat climactic show, but I felt I needed my diction to match my message. I always had a thing for the voice of the gods, booming in thunder and lighting. Anyways, down to business. I am happy to inform the Nexus and all within it that from this moment forth, Magcorp and all related subsidiaries are hereby under new management as additions to Kaletech Industries. This next part is directed to the old owner, Mr. Lord Magtok. I apologize again for the public means of communication, but I wanted to be sure you got the message clearly through all the chaos. As you have no doubt noticed, all the Magclones have begun singing a most charming lullaby. My mother used to sing it to me. Though I don’t suppose you appreciate the sentimentality. Either way, I have sent a squad of Seeker Destroyer Bots to find and capture you, Sir. Please don’t fight them when they arrive. They will bring you in most unharmed if you cooperate. And to ensure they capture the correct one I’ve ensured that you are easily distinguished from your cloned brethren. Hence the singing. Now, I understand that right now you are considering simply joining the song and blending in. By all means, please do. I expect to be seeing you shortly, Mr. Magtok. Thank you for your cooperation in this time of transition.

The thunderous voice lags behind the lightning show producing it and the last rumbles of Miss Kale’s voice are fading into the hills as the blue skies return once again. The singing continues.

It begins.

While I'm here, can you bunch answer a question (http://amwithtea.blogspot.com/2010/03/planning-ahead.html)? You can ignore the second part of that post.

EDIT: Please answer there rather than here. =p It'd be easier for me to keep track that way.

And now for something completely off-topic! Wait, was there a topic at all? Meh.:smalltongue:

But seriously, I wanted to know how to introduce a new character to Trog's. Do I just put the character in the ACRONYM Character Registry and then post with the new character going in? Because that can't be all there is to it. There's gotta be a catch.

First, HALO is pretty easily accessible. Read the OP... We're not going to surface it just to accomadate all the people who can't teleport or hop into a robot sub.

As to the Goddess issue, it's a long story. The mytholgy I made up to use for my plots features 7 evil deities based off the deadly sins. Due to an early plot, I had a character become sort of the Champion of Lust. Last summer, I had a huge plot about those evil gods, with several different planned outcomes. Becuase of different characters' actions, the old Goddess of Lust became mortal and my character, Angela, took her place... It's just something that played out IC that I didn't feel like interferring with...

The issue of HALO being underwater is psychological, not logistical. People aren't going to care about a place that's some hundred feet under the bottom of the ocean. Now, whether or not you consider that relevant is your business, I'm just telling you how I feel about it.

I agree. There are a group of us who chat over MSN, and HALO currently has a reputation as a bunch of people who just hang out in their underwater base having lesbian sex as opposed to actually participating in the world and being Heroic and Anti- Evil and Lawbreaking.

FireFox
2010-03-13, 06:52 PM
The funny thing about reputations is that they tend to be completely worthless. You either see something for yourself, or you don't really know how it goes. Allow me to remind you that HALO was around before there was a real FFRP universe, with Inside and Outside. Of course HALO comes across as isolationist, because, from the beginning, we have never needed to work with anybody. Our base was made so that we could have everything we needed, because at that point there was nowhere else to go. All of our plots were either acted out in the base or in a few other threads. Now that times have changed, perhaps we should change with them. Or perhaps doing so would create more issues than it would solve.

The main problem with raising the base so that everyone can interact with it, is that HALO then becomes a target of all the ACRO-wide plots that go on. I know I'm not the only one who would rather quietly RP than constantly be fighting. Even though it may be demanded IC, most days I am simply not in the mood to have my characters get involved with the affairs of the rest of the universe. Sure, I can continue hiding behind the "HALO is completely invulnerable to plot-based destruction" defense that has served me fairly well so far, but saying I refuse to acknowledge the actions of other PCs because I don't want to have to deal with the consequences leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I don't want to be a big jerk, but I don't want to be fighting off attacks and plots half the time I come here to unwind either.

As for fighting evil, that lies in our old plots as well. My characters all use HALO as a base. They arm themselves from the weaponry, they train there, they deploy out to fight evil offscreen (or in plot threads with other members), and they return to rest, eat, and heal. But you are correct in saying that the majority of our members are not active in this large ACRO world. However, I tend to be perfectly fine with that, and I am sorry if you are not. Are we the most Heroic and Anti-evil and Lawbreaking PCs out there? No, not really. How does that even matter? I know that, when I can actually get on and RP in HALO, I have some good fun. Are we really going to nitpick about what each group here is and isn't doing?

Now, I'm not a member of this MSN clique. That's pretty much "the loop", and I'm out of it. It's a great way for people to talk about plots, come up with ideas for the new directions ACRO should take, plan out character interaction, joke around about players and PCs, make judgments, and condemn groups of people without giving them any chance to defend themselves. I can understand people don't like HALO, but it absolutely confounds me why they even care in the first place. We don't bother you, we keep our PCs and RPing style to ourselves, we don't even force you to read the thread. We have fun doing what we do, and I, for the life of me, can't see where you have a say in it.

I have no opinion on whether HALO should stay submerged or not. That's obviously something for the relevant players to decide, just as the GLoG players decided what to do after the GLoG base was destroyed.

But the msn chats are open to everyone. My msn ident is in my profile - just add me as a contact and say hi. Or PM Rebonack or Magtok or Bushranger (can't add people to chats, don't PM him) or Darkcomet, who are there most nights, and we'll get you introduced to people and added to contact lists.

They tend to be rather random and chaotic and nonsensical, and very little of it is actually 'about' Acro, except in the sense of 'Hey Magtok, when are you going to post *poke poke poke*' or 'That thing you just did, could you clarify?' HALO will operate as its members wish, and so long as HALO's nigh-invulnerability is not abused in order to launch major attacks on the greater portion of Acro/Town/Whatever with utter impunity I do not care. Personally, I don't even keep up with HALO.

Our base was made so that we could have everything we needed, because at that point there was nowhere else to go.

Dun wanna get involved in any of the arguments going on right now, but I feel the need to point this out.
Yes, HALO has been around longer than FFRP in general (with the exception of Town), but HALO did not come into existance for the reasons you state.

HALO exists because AMEN got bored and wanted someone to fight. It's not even the first organization that was created because we wanted a rival, although I can't recall the name of your predecessor. And in turn, NO and GLoG were created, as well, inspired by AMEN and HALO.
I'm not saying AMEN is better, or superior, to HALO, NO and GLoG. As far as I'm concerned, AMEN is dead and nothing more than a collection of happy memories and friendships, if you can call them that. You guys, however, still exist, and for that, I commend you.
I just feel the need to clear facts up a little. Sorry if I seem preachy. >>

Carry on.

Now that times have changed, perhaps we should change with them. Or perhaps doing so would create more issues than it would solve.

If you're going to play the "we were here first" card, allow me to one-up you with a post of mine from September 2006:

Iames does not appear on the Ethereal Plane. He is invisible (to others on the Ethereal Plane) and watching Vael and Seren.

As for fighting evil, that lies in our old plots as well.

So you're saying you don't do that anymore?

Are we the most Heroic and Anti-evil and Lawbreaking PCs out there? No, not really. How does that even matter?

Shouldn't you be? You guys are the Heroic Anti-evil and Lawbreaking Organization. You should be in the top tier of people out in ACRO fighting evil and lawbreaking. People should be flocking to HALO because they know that HALO is a strong force that opposes evil. Villains should be scheming to undermine HALO before its heroic members arrive to foil their sinister plans. But instead, HALO languishes under the sea and is ignored by pretty much everyone, because they don't do anything that interact with the rest of the universe and thus don't matter.

That disappoints me, because I have characters who would fit in perfectly with that kind of HALO, but I was told - by people who play in HALO, no less - that I'd be swimming against the current if I tried to join. I want to be able to meet and team up with HALO characters in the fight against the threat of the month. But I can't do that, because HALO is irrelevant and nobody, least of all you, seems to care.

And Exalted have a reputation as being overpowered, impossible-to-roleplay-with godlings, don't they? :smallannoyed:

A fair point. Rereading my post, I came across far more confrontationally than I intended. Reputations are, as has been pointed out, hogwash, but there is a key difference: those of us who play Exalted characters are trying to fight against that reputation by going out and interacting with people. HALO seems content to sit back and be ignored and let that reputation propagate. They'll argue about it OOC, like here, but judging from the tone of FireFox's post, they don't intend to change their IC behavior a whit.

First of all, thank you very much everyone for stating your opinions. Secondly, all of this arguing is unnecessary. It is up to the members of HALO what they are going to do with and inside HALO. It really doesn't matter what any other of the ACRO organizations say about HALO because it is what it is. And as FF said, if you don't like it that's fine. But no one is making you join or read the threads.

I guess you misunderstand me. I'm not playing any sort of "We were here first" card. I am fully aware you are an old Townie and were here long before I was. I was trying to point out how HALO's current status reflects how we were in the beginning, or at least when I joined. HALO never needed to interact with any other organization or faction in the past because, besides AMEN, there were none. HALO was at the bottom of the sea, and there really wasn't anything above us.

As for not fighting evil, if you had actually read my post instead of just jumping out at weak points. It's right there after the sentence you quoted. "My characters all use HALO as a base. They arm themselves from the weaponry, they train there, they deploy out to fight evil offscreen (or in plot threads with other members), and they return to rest, eat, and heal." All of my HALO characters have fought evil in plots in the past, and will contine to do so in the future. Again, you are missing my point: I run plots in HALO the same way I used to run the old plots.

Why are you singling HALO out? Shouldn't you also be getting on GLoG's case for not redeeming people? You say we're ignored and that we don't matter. Yet the fact that you're actually arguing about this seems to prove you wrong. I don't care about your plots. I don't care about fighting. I don't care about who's "ruling" ACRO at any given time. I am here to RP. I choose to do so in HALO, as well as in GLoG and the other threads. Just because my characters don't fight evil in the threads here every second does not mean they aren't heroic or anti-evil and lawbreaking.

If you want to fight against the threat of the month, feel free to join HALO and harass other members until they help you. Fine and dandy. But I have enough stress and crap going on in my every day life without having to, in the very place I come to to try and relax, deal with half a dozen other posters and try and cooperate in fight scenes, and have my characters get killed, and all of that stuff I've experienced before. All of that, while appealing to others, does not appeal to me.

I can't convince the forum options that I'm in GMT + 0 with no daylight savings corrections. So I tried telling it I was GMT -1, and it subtracted two hours. I move it back to GMT + 0, and it still leaves me an hour ahead.

I have no idea why it matters since the forum clock is always wrong anyway.

Hmm, yeah. I just noticed there was a little DST thing and fiddled with it, and now I'm 2 hours in the future. It doesn't really matter, but I just find 15 minutes too slow to be better than 45 minutes too quick.
Unfortunately, the only way to get the 'right' time is to convince the forum I'm living in Pakistan.

I think this might need to be brought up in Board Issues or something.

I know, doesn't it suck when you can't tell people that hydraulics would solve the main issue of the argument? I mean, they could have those installed, rise to the surface, and submerge when under attack (or if a child gets to the controls). It'd be like that Disney movie "Atlantis"...

Wait, why didn't they just rise above the water? Or make a shield that protects the whole city?... Atlantians are really stupid--but I digress.

People gotta stop thinking about everything as permanent. Especially Atlantians. That was just poor planning right there.

Basically the reason HALO has never bothered to raise to the surface of the water(which members have in thread suggested on many occasions.) is that there really is no need. There are teleporters off in the corner of any thread that a character wants to get to HALO from, and there are robot submersibles if a character doesn't like teleporting. And...just because we flat out don't really see a need to. If you want a character to show up at HALO all you have to do is say they show up. No one will bother to question it.

@HALO: Not quuuite true. There's been several times when I've wanted a mysterious cloaked figure to be haunting the outside of HALO, except it doesn't work, because it's underwater. How can a cloaked figure lurk if the base is underwater!? IT'S JUST BLATANT DISCRIMINATION AGAINST CLOAKED FIGURES IS WHAT IT IS!!!*

You know what we need more of in Acro? Avian characters. Not winged humanoids, but actual avians.

Then their romance scenes could go something like this:

I dunno. I mean, unless those members are just a small minority or surfacing would just inconvenience people in a way they weren't thinking of or something, I think the fact that they're saying that means there might be a need.

I haven't really kept track of how many have suggested it. As a matter of fact I actually IC asked if I would be allowed to raise/move the base. And have OOC suggested it in thread moar than once. So meh. Don't know what to tell you.

I think I own the VHS... but I don't own a player for it anymore... :'( What I remember is that a giant tsunami was heading their way, and the only way to prevent total destruction was to put up a shield that surrounded the palace and submerge itself underground.

@XtheYeti: Aquaphobia and claustrophobia are two reasons, the second being more apparent. As well, the isolation factor that people brought up--OH MY GOD WE'RE REPEATING HISTORY! (http://www.giantitp.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3812215#post3812215) Even though that's a link to my second post ever, scroll down a smidge and you'll find pretty much the whole secondary argument that led to HALO's isolation. I think. I forget...

Remember not to judge anyone from a link to the past. 2 years is a long time.

Rereading a bit of that thread, my first RP encounter sucks. I thought it was all cool and stuff, but after seeing it again... WTH, Mefromtwoyearsago? WTH! No capitals? In all honesty. I think that where HALO is located is stupid. It doesn't make sense to me. But it is where it is, and it doesn't stop any of my characters from going there whenever they want. So I don't really care. I would prefer to move the base, but that is not my decision to make.

Morty

The issue of HALO being underwater is psychological, not logistical. People aren't going to care about a place that's some hundred feet under the bottom of the ocean. Now, whether or not you consider that relevant is your business, I'm just telling you how I feel about it.
