Incidentally, I actuall meant Xykon with my question. He states that a party of 5 adventurers built the gates, while the sixth the sixth (the halfling) wrote down the locations.

That is not correct. One of the six (Kraagor) was already dead. The halfling built one of the gates herself, but designed it as a tomb for Kraagor.

He says five of them built the gates and the sixth recorded the locations. That was not the case. By the time they started building the gates, one of the six was dead already. Serini did not just record the gates location, she built one of them too. Apparently Xykon got it wrong. Of course, it may not be due to the translation. Perhaps Serini wrote it down wrong in her diary, but that doesn't seem very likely.
