Talk about altering the pantheon...

Of course, since Giggles will have more followers than Banjo, he'll be the more prominent puppet god, won't he?

Sweet Zombie Jesus, that strip had me laughing so hard. I don't know which is funnier, Elan and Vurkle dueling with puppet gods or Durkon's reaction to it. Although one wonders where Elan got the second puppet from...

Huh, I b'lieve this is Durkon's first spotlight time since the siege.

Great comic yet again Giant. I just have a couple questions. Where is the world did Elan get another puppet? And is there going to be full puppet Pantheon by the time this is all over?

The last four panels reminded me of when I was like six.

I mean, who didn't have to re-assert the rules of play with their action figures amongst friends? :)

Also you can tell that Durkon has reached his tolerance breaking point, look how he's being restrained! :)

VForVaarsuvius

XD, that was hularious, Rich. Poor Durkon, though...

I have an odd feeling their going to lead an Orc rebellion against Kubota.

2008-05-31, 12:59 PM
Great work as always, Giant. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Interestingly, because Banjo's brother Giggles is getting worshipped now, that might have a spillover effect on Banjo, as Giggles is going to be worshipped as the equal of Banjo. If Giggles becomes more powerful, that might elevate Banjo by association.

Talk about altering the pantheon...

Of course, since Giggles will have more followers than Banjo, he'll be the more prominent puppet god, won't he?

Well now let's see, that will make: Banjosits, Reformed Banjoists, Unorthodox Banjoists, Giggleists and the Popular Banjoist Front.

Am I forgetting any of them?

Now I can only wonder how many puppets Elan happens to have...

Also, Giant, before you put this one in print, you may want to take a look at the second to last pannel. The word is spelled rvials, but I think it's supposed to be rivals. :)

Hello everyone, great comic today, I just want to point out a spelling error I noticed.

In the tenth space Elan says 'Oooo! They're so neat! Ok, so they're brothers, but they're rvials.' As you know it should be rivals.:smalltongue:

Anyway, thank you very much Giant for this wonderful comic:smallredface:.

Brilliant!

That painfully reminded me of my childhood...

Tomm: My GI Joe is better than yours.

Me: Nuh-uh! Mine can fly!

Tomm: Oh, well mine is still so much better. He shoots rockets out of his eyes. Wanna trade?

Me: Sure! And now, my Joe fires rockets out of his eyes, they go soaring through the sky at your Joe!

Tomm: Mine's better. He can fly. And he has magic. And his force shield can only be broken from the inside.

Oh, how I hated my little brother... Good times, good times...

I love the way Elan just pulls the unexpected out of thin air. Just how many puppets does he have, anyway?

So the Orcs have a new god. I wonder how Giggles will play into the storyline. Are we going to see the pie eating contest?

I also liked how Durkon tried to reform the orcs and get them to worship Thor. His reaction to the puppets was too funny!

Anyway, I really liked this comic!

Chronos

It should have been obvious to Elan that Banjo the Clown and Giggles the Clown were brothers. They have the same last name.

Hehe... nice comic again, thanks a lot ^^
'You had Water Walk prepared? - I live onna boat an' wear heavy armor.' Hehe, dumb question, Daigo ^^'

I like the new good ^^ But I'm afraid on the isle there will still be worshippers of Banjo left and they and Giggle' worshipers will fight each other over who's the better god... poor orcs. Still, I'd kinda liked Giggle being called Sticky or Cluby or so... That way he'd fit even better to Banjo ^^***

Only drawback: Therkla's gone again. But that's the way, super heroes are, hu? Always appearing out of nowhere when they are needed and then disappearing once the job is done. Too bad... If her secret identity will ever be uncovered?

Not sure which part was the funniest here. The crack about the creators having no idea where that tunnel was going, the fact that Elan had another puppet up his sleeve, how quickly the orcs warmed to Elan-style theological debate, or how upset Durkon got over it all. No… the funniest part was how happy everyone else was.

Y'know, I'm now thinking that I want to make a "cleric of a puppet god" character in 4e. The puppet itself could serve as an implement (same bonuses as a magic weapon, but for spells).

When the Orcs said, "Hurray!" at the end of the strip, I about lost it. Good times.

Also, as I read it, I kept waiting anxiously for the Water Walk spell to wear off. I guess in game mechanics, Durkon would have something like 2 hours before it went away, but I wouldn't put it past the creator not to take advantage of an angry dwarf and opt for Concentration failure anyway.

Why is Elan giving the orcs their own puppet god to resolve the conflict, instead of just water-walking back to the ship? Because it's funnier that way. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/RuleOfFunny)

Mmmm. Pie...

And introducing Banjo's evil twin puppet, Giggles!

Mere words cannot convey my appreciation, Rich. Closest I can come is "Perfect Elan arc". Thank you.

Have Fun!

Poor durkon, here we see the difference between having a good argument and a low charisma, or having a dumb argument but a high charisma.
And I appreciated the explanation of why Durkon had water walk prepared. Sometimes seeing them having always the right spells is kinda lame.

So lets see... Banjo started as a puppet and is now the chief god of his own pantheon!

Lets see... I can see it now...

Banjo--God of Puppets
Chaotic Good
Patron god of bards, clowns, puppets, and marionettes...

Giggles--Puppet God of Slapstick
Chaotic Neutral
Patron god of jesters and bar-room brawlers...

Anyone want to expand on this?

No, because they are rivals, the orcs worshiping Giggles will cause a side effect that Banjo gains appropriate power.
That makes sense. Why wouldn't it?

Yes, the Banjoist Popular Front.

Also, don't for the People's Front of Banjo

I have been reading OotS from the beginning (I think it was on issue 31 when I found it), but I hadn't laughed out loud reading it for months until Durkon's last line today.

That was epic win.

If its name is Giggles, then why isn't it smiling, its not even an evil looking grin which might convey some sort of laughter. It just looks mad.

Well, consider that the three High Priests of Slapstick (Moe, Larry and Curly) rarely smiled when the copious amount of slapstick were going on. Lots of grimaces, frowns, cries of pain, but not a lot of smiling. (Well, except when Larry would hit Moe with a pie... then Larry would laugh for like five seconds until Moe hit him back with another pie.)

Oh, and obviously, the favored weapon of Giggles is a thrown pie.

I was looking back through the archives and came to a conclusion. It looks like it's going to rain.

Like someone tries to kill someone, or someone is revealed to be a traitor, or someone kisses someone for the first time

Kubota's ninjas try to kill Hinjo while he's alone (His higher-level guards (V is studying, Kato is pregnant, Durkon, Elan, Diago and Lien are on the island).
Qarr tells Kubota about Therkla's actions.
Therkal gains the courage to kiss Elan.

:smallwink: A post not to be taken seriously.

Proof yet again that despite his stupidity Elan is very gerne savy. When he said it was cool that the two gods were rival brothers he shows that he knows the fact that is what has been done for thousands of years. It is very classic mythology.

"orcs not have god. again." Poor Vurkle.
Doesn't suprise me that Durkon keeps Water Walk prepared. After all, not only is there the boat/heavy armor issue, but very few trees are seen on water, making it an ideal spell to use when escaping them.

Two words to drive fear into Durkon:

Mangrove Swamp.

They are coming to get you....
