Funny you should mention that because that stuck out to me because I literally was on my way to meet one of my favorite authors
(Like, two hours ago. I just got back from it).

The point isn't that I or someone wouldn't feel nervous or maybe gush a bit (I'm more of the shy selective mute myself) in that I don't understand how people might go from 'big fan' to 'well-meant creepo'.
Big difference between "Your work has been a major influence on my life!" to "I WANT TO LICK YOUR FACE*!"
