He was a bright man, one of the rare men of that kind to reach the throne of the Ottoman Empire lately.

The Turks' power had been in decline for decades. And if he wouldn't change things now, they would fade to obscurity sooner rather than later.

But the other nations of Europe were more advanced and ready for war. He? If this was the state of readiness for the Turks, it was laughable. But it was what he had, and it would have to make do. He would have to make up for quality and quantity with superior strategy and diplomacy. Easier said than done, that.

However, he'd have to try.
