For a moment, just a moment, there is order. All the treatment, the balance of drugs and invasive surgery, the worsening of her condition from stress and the stimuli she’d been given to try to make her pliable and controllable, it’s gone, and there is order again, patterns in the chaos as once more she is, oh so briefly, the way she was.

Then it cracks as the man collapses, as the walls crumble down and she is sent screaming back into the abyss of madness, and the gates closed behind her. And she can’t help it. Once more at the mercy of her every emotional response, she bursts into tears, crying and crying and crying until she dries up. Crying until there is no more water, no more tears, no more anything, it's all used up and finished.
