See, for me, I see it as "2007 was only five years ago". Slightly different emphasis, but it completely changes the meaning of that line.

Oh how I miss the days of LAN-parties. Yes lugging around however many computers/tvs/x-boxes was a pain, but it was always pretty great getting 10-20 people in a house to do an all nighter playing one game or another.

Some friends and I tried to do some LAN a few years back, only to learn that most modern x-box games restricted LAN use to one player per unit, which is like the designers waving a giant middle finger at the concept of the LAN-party.
