I've never been a fan of Melinda and I think now I know why. "I'm so beautiful that no one understands me" is pretty high on my list of "what makes a character unlikeable."

I'm different in the sense that after a certain point adding more of a trait doesn't really help, and may hinder your life

(Also remember Melinda's biased towards herself)

She sees herself as over-attractive to the point that the benefits it gives are out-weighed by the drawbacks.
