To be fair, they don't really need ammunition or fuel. That's the whole point of las-everything.
Still need food and water, fuel for the vehicles, ammo for non-las weaponry, spare parts for when things get broken down, replacement soldiers to make up for attrition...the list goes on. Logistics are important.
