Go with this. I'd play him as still a very brilliant mind, but he's lost track of what's a dream and what's reality... And he's having strange delusions of titans sitting around a table controlling their actions by rolling massive stone structures with mysterious symbols engraved on them. (Who says Common is necessarily English? )
