She first spends a Detect Magic on attempting to discern if the scrolls contain any magical traps. Assuming not, she then reads the symbols on the scrollcase. Per the SRD, "Most scroll cases are inscribed with magic symbols which often identify the owner or the spells stored on the scrolls inside."
