Ouch. Can you document your boss asking you for overtime? You should always ask your boss for proof-in-writing of work orders. This way you can get a lawyer should you need one. I always make it clear to my employees that: 1, I expect them to complete only exactly their assignment; and 2, they should try to spend only company time working on their assignment.

Unfortunately, I have to admit that though I can do this now because I'm in R&D, I used to be on the trading floor, and unpaid overtime was expected there due to the difficult nature of the work.

For my part of random banter, I had possibly the worst nightmare last night. Do you know what's scary? Thinking there's a serial killer in the house with your family, and not being able to do anything about it.

I will never laugh again at those incredibly cheesy horror movies...
