If I remember correctly, in 4e, dwarves are a Medium race, just with Small race movement. Small races (ie. Halflings and Gnomes,) couldn't use two-handed weapons and had to use a versatile weapon as a two-handed weapon, but didn't get the extra damage for it. And that was about it.
