I wonder, if the shield is used/count as weapon, the cost of the + enchantments should be double?

Wonder no more. A shield can be enchanded as a shield and as a weapon. The cost is calculated separately, so a shield of deflection +4 enchanded to bash with protection +4 cost not as a +10 weapon or armor but as much as a +5 weapon plus a +5 armor.


Also a shield gets no bonus hardness or hp from special materials? In the PHB only armor has that privilege
