That's more or less what I thought. Plus, there's likely some added awkwardness due to the fact that the person she's currently becoming closer to has a far stronger relationship with someone else. It's a reminder that no matter how close she and Tedd get, Tedd will always be closer to her ex-boyfriend of all people. That's gotta sting.

My interpretation is that Sarah, overall, feels like she's the black sheep of the friend group, the outcast. She's the only one without magic. Everyone is better friends with someone else. Even Diane, who just showed up and has had an antagonistic history, is already ingratiating herself quite well. This whole thing is probably a punch to the gut for her.
