How to Make a Bow-Kata Monk/Fighter?

For me, this concept fails because the first time you hit someone really hard with a bow, you no longer have a bow - you have two broken pieces of wood (or horn or bone) with some string connecting them.

I'll enjoy the concept all the more then.
