[Pyramid on a volcanic island]

Somewhere on Seaside, a new island is being born. The water steams and roils as magma pours from a deep crack in the seabed, black rock emerging from the waves like giant, cancerous bubbles. At some places, the forming terrain is pushed aside from below and new, orange hot molten rock pours to the surface like blood from a wound that refuses to heal. The lava trickles down the cooling black surface, until it hits the water and sinks into the sea with an angry hiss.

But, there is something on this primordial terrain that does not belong: a structure. Specifically, a pyramid, apparently of blinding white chalk with a golden top. The visible part is roughly 12 meters in height with sides around 17 meters at the base, but it looks like it could extend deep underground into the barely solidified basalt. It appears slightly slanted, as if it was pushed up from the depths of earth or carried by waves of lava. Despite its flawless exterior, it feels ancient, like it has stood in place for thousands of years, despite this being obviously impossible given its surroundings.

Approaching it seems foolhardy; the island is hardly stable and it may take years before the eruption shaping it concludes. But, Nexus and its oceans are inhabited by many strange beings, with equally strange and inventive means of turning opportunity to profit. Maybe the on-going geological process is of interest to some researcher - or maybe a pirate ship passing by just can't resist the idea of a big, fat chunk of gold just lying there under the open skies...
