Trailing behind Sieghart, darting quickly here and there, blending into shadows with his matte black chitin, was the small grotesque beast that responded to the nickname 'Hiss' more than anything, as it was the sound it most often made. Disappearing for the better half of a day oft times, the beast usually came back smelling of blood to share Sieghart's fire, or to steal his blanket to make a nest, had been following the young man for some time now.

Though seeming to understand Sieghart, Hiss rarely listened for very long, and would wander off quite a bit. It trailed him again now, seeming to meander from shadow to shadow, cocking its eyeless head oddly as if listening, and occasionally snatching a small animal (squirrel, thicket mouse,...stray cat, didn't seem to matter) and devouring it messily as it traveled - seeming content just to keep Sieghart where he could find him easily. Though without visible eyes or even ears, it wasn't exactly clear how he accomplished that feat. Let alone find a constant supply of food seemingly everywhere.
