Presumably, the DM would nudge said player into taking at least a Tier 2 class.

I was thinking at least tier 3, but yeah.

And if the girl wanted to play a fighter, she'd presumably ignore the nudge.

This would explain the Spellsplinter Maneuver, though. Although “balance patch between classes” also works.
