This suggestion is apparently too much for the kenku. It suddenly turns and makes a dash for the darkness of the forest.

Here's how we're going to handle this. The kenku has potentially surprised you, and is hoping to get away before you can react. It's moving from adjacent to all of you, taking the dash action to get away into the shadows of the forest. If you want to try and stop it, roll initiative: if you equal or exceed the kenku's roll of (1d20+3)[17] then you can make an attack of opportunity (or AoO-equivalent maneuver) or use any other abilities you could normally use in response to the kenku's movement. Raeh was clearly ready for this, and automatically succeeds at her initiative roll. She may attack with her crossbow as a reaction (i.e., as a readied action).
You don't have to take the attack if you don't want to, of course.
