The powerfully built man aims his head at the ground. With sudden force and a terrific noise, his eyes emit a deadly white glow, a flash as bright as the sun and just as hard to keep one's eyes on. This doesn't seem directed at Blanche, however. At least it's not the whole intent. The area around him is obliterated in this burst of blazing energy, and it throws up a tremendous cloud of dust, momentarily obscuring Maiel from sight.

Though Blanche can probably still hear his boots getting closer, and picking up speed.

The feline raises an arm to shield her sight from what she assumes to be a blinding effect, gambling on her pursuer's intent to capture rather than kill to glance around the area and spot a stray length of fractured wood thrown loose by the impact. Her ears flick as his footfalls grow in tempo and she snatches the board off the platform, planting her feet and taking a stance.

Maiel might see it as a fruitless gesture, a prideful attempt to stand her ground and get in one last hit - but in actuality, what Blanche has in mind is just a bit different. She intends to lunge forward at the apex of his charge, moving to sidestep and swing the beam into his ankles. It probably won't do much damage, but it just might be enough to make him stumble and trip.
