Possible Jeph wants to do a controversy arc without touching anything actually political. Which I would appreciate because the only thing I want less than “Burger Oni internet controversy” is “REAL WORLD Burger Oni internet controversy”

Or he recently realized he wasted too much money on these games and just wanted a zany story about this, and hes making it up as he goes.
