Shandara tinkers around with the concept of a protective field that expands and contracts with energy fed into it. She is very sure it is possible, but she just needs to make sure that the enchantment only absorbs a very particular kind of energy, and does not instead accidentally amplify a different type of energy or unravel due to an overload.

So instead, she opts to make a prototype for the prototype: a simple wooden disk that is enchanted to resist fire damage. She should be able to safely place it in a stove and it will not become damaged or burn away. And then, when she applies one of her own 1st level spell slots to it, the field will protect her as well. She should be able to therefore touch a burning stove without harm.
