    For minion #3, you might be able to use the Master of Flies prestige class from Savage Species. It isn't exactly what you seem to be looking for, but it basically grants a "wildshape but for swarms" ability.

    I also seem to remember there being some sort of hive mind thing in the Book of Vile Darkness.
