[3.5] Which block do you prefer?
A
Spoiler
B
Spoiler
I want to start making at least 10 of these in bulk, but I am not sure which (if either) is best.
Also, what do you guys think should pop out of these things? Perhaps make it into a % table with different possibilities?
So far I am thinking a DC5 jump check + a touch attack against AC 5 to hit one of these, and a DC10 jump check to get on top of one of these. Any better ideas?Projects I am working on:

Re: [3.5] Which block do you prefer?
Block B is better designed and looks more like a block than A, which looks like pegs were glued on the surface

I prefer block A, but I have a strong feeling more people will prefer block B.

Sorry for complicating things, but can you make a block C?
A block A with smaller pegs?Boats are like nuts, the outside is hard but the inside is usually good to eat.

I prefer B. Without the bevels around the rivets on A, it kind of looks like a strange Lego brick.

Block B, gotta say. Also, are these for those Modron figures you were discussing sometime back?

Re: [3.5] Which block do you prefer?
If Block A could be modded to have smaller pegs and maybe the question marks raised a little, I'd definitely go with that. If not, I guess B is okay.

Re: [3.5] Which block do you prefer?
I honestly can't tell the difference between the blocks.
There are several mario-monster homebrews running around, if you wanted to put them into the % table. Similarly, you could have Mushrooms of Enlarge Person + Bear's Endurance, Fire-Flowers that let you generate thrown ammunition that deals only fire damage, and Stars that grant temporary defensive buffs and offensive touch spells. I really like the fact that mario power-ups provide an immediate effect that has to be best put to use before the time runs out.
Alternatively, have a simple chance of a small or smaller monster coming out, an amount of coins coming out, nothing coming out, and a magical item coming out.Homebrew Magic Items you might enjoy:

Re: [3.5] Which block do you prefer?
Block A, though I agree smaller rivets would be nice.
Also, you should check the DCs listed for a vertical jump under the Jump skill in the PHB. DC 10 is jumping 2.5 feet. If these things are stocked with goodies I'd raise them up a bit and require some player creativity to get them.
Edited to add: and maybe have one on the ground so you cannot hit the bottom. No amount of dmg to the sides or top opens it, unless you find a magic turtle shell to hit it with...Last edited by Another_Poet; 2008-12-30 at 10:49 AM.

Re: [3.5] Which block do you prefer?
B because Block A seems like the kind of block you use when you're trying to make up for something

Re: [3.5] Which block do you prefer?
I'd go with Block B. While Block A's pegs extend out in a manner that I'd imagine screws would look like, they just go out too far, and Block B does a good job presenting them without making them too large.
Either way, though, I think a small amount of bevelling on all of the corners would help out.
