    Default The Birds

I've recently saw the movie "The Birds" and It gave me an idea for a dnd adventure. I have the main idea but I need help with the details.
This is what I've thought of so far:

    - The main antagonists will be intellectual, psionic pigeons.
    - They will not be a world threat(this will be more of a side quest)
    - This will be a 4-5th level adventure so the pigeons will have mostly 2nd level psionic powers.
    - It will be an investigatory/mystery adventure, in which it will not be known to the PC's that the birds are the enemy.
    - I'm thinking for a boss a giant pigeon with the stats of a giant eagle.
    - The birds will have mind control powers, so they'll have human slaves(with their eyes pecked out of course)

I'm hoping this to be semi-serious, in a funny way.
Thanks for any ideas you can offer.

Stat the pigeons as brain moles, but with a fly speed instead of a burrow speed. For the head pigeons, you could stat them as these guys I homebrewed, or just buffed-up brain moles in general, with the added psionic dominate 1/day or so. If you don't want to do that, just stat the head pigeons as Kenku (MMIII) Psions of about 5th level.

Tome of Magic has stats for a Murder of Crows (flying bird swarm) - if you can, check that out.

You should definitely make them an extraordinary number of weak birds rather than a giant eagle or something. If you want them to be capable of psionic powers that are greater than a weak monster would indicate, just give them powers that the group as a whole must concentrate to use and only are removed by destroying a significant number. A swarm is a good way to do it (
There is a swarm template in the Fiend Folio), but certainly not the only way to do it. You could decide have one pigeon for each pp that you want the whole to have (~25) and that one pigeon has to concentrate per pp spent to manifest a spell (~5). Since each bird only has one, if the PCs start taking down birds, than they may remove pp from the total mass.

Great thanks these work, but I'm thinking of a bit more varied powers, maybe three different boss birds that each specialize in different psion discipline?
Also maybe add a "peck out eyes" special ability, that counts as a disarm check?

I don't have the tome of magic, does anyone know the stats?

Anyway, I'm also thinking of taking the idea that the birds attack with the tides, they kill at high tide, and rest at low tide.

I'll see your brain moles and raise you the hive-minded deliciousness of a swarm of cranium rats. Just transfer the hive mind to the loo-loo-loop-ing winged vermin and you're golden.
