    Default Low LA undead

Hey, Just putting a call out there to see if I can track down an undead (or undead related) template with a lowish level adjustment associated with it.

    Thanks

Necropolitan is what you're looking for. It's a template from Libris Mortis that turns you into an Undead with all that entails, but doesn't do much else. IIRC, it doesn't have a level adjustment, but it costs you a certain amount of XP and/or gp or something like that.

If I remember right, you lose a level for becoming one. In addition to a 1000xp hit. Ouch. But still, totaly awesome.

EDIT: Also, a Skeleton with Awaken Undead cast on it. Free, since it's someone elses xp that was spent. I've always wanted to play a skeleton.

it can be done at level 4, which is only a loss of 4000 xp, 1000 more than buying off a LA.

Gravetouched Ghoul is a real winner. Its a +2 LA, but not racial HD. That means you get more class levels. Its pretty amazing. You get 2 claws and a bite, plus a cha based paralysis attack and some awesome stats. Combines really well with cha based melee classes like evil paladin varients, hexblades, and blackguards.

There are some LA +0 Undead (with actual drawbacks tho...) that are homebrewed. But ya, they've covered the (short) list of decent undead.

(e.g. the one in my sig)

Note that half-vampire doesn't give the Undead type, so if that's what you were going for, it won't work. If you just want it for flavor purposes or something like that, then ignore this post.

Yeah pretty much just something Undead-related for flavor.

Even something similar to the half-golem but for undead would have worked.

Now why didn't I think to look in the Libris Mortis?

There are some other half undead templates from a certain Dragon Magazine, but you can get the important details from Crystal Keep.

You might try some of the various undead grafts, then. They're more along the lines of magic items, instead of templates, but it fits the same theme as the "half-golems" you mentioned.

It is inevitable, of course, that persons of epicurean refinement will in the course of eternity engage in dealings with those of... unsavory character. Record well any transactions made, and repay all favors promptly.. (Thanks to Gnomish Wanderer for the Toreador avatar! )
