Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
I'm flexible on buff time, so if you have a preference, let me know.
As for arena? The best I can think of is:
130x130x30 natural cavern. Light is available, but not bright to the point of being an issue for light sensitive races. No wind, no water, no adverse weather.
Nice, simple, bland. Shapeable if you shape battlefields, open if you don't.
(reason for 130 as a choice is that A-Z and 1-26 make a nice square, and twenty-six 5 foot squares is 130 feet. In short, it makes it easy to draw a map up)Last edited by Talic; 2009-06-09 at 12:27 AM.

Works for me. I don't care much about buff time; one round? a few rounds? Your choice, really.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
One round works for me.
My one round:SpoilerActivate Ring of Invisibility, Hide: (1d20+45)[62] (+40 if target cannot See Invisibility)
Move Silent: (1d20+46)[66]
Assuming we start 120 feet from one another (5 feet in from an edge, opposite edge), I am not visible to the naked eye. Spot/Listen, as well as magical detection, may offer additional clues.Last edited by Talic; 2009-06-09 at 01:45 AM.

Map is designed, and is in the process of uploading to photobucket. Unfortunately, at my present location, I have to rely on e-mail upload.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
Buff round:
SpoilerUMD wand of mirror image (1d20+14)[29] (1d4)[3]
Activate Ring of Blinking.
Four images of a lightly armoured gnome flicker in and out of existence at the far edge of the cavern.Last edited by Sallera; 2009-06-09 at 09:49 AM.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
I will be starting in Y10. Currently not visible without some method of detection on your part.
My turn (non-observables spoilered):SpoilerDouble move- half speed to U6.
Hide: (1d20+45)[49] +20 if opponent cannot detect invisibility
Move Silently: (1d20+46)[57] +1 for every 10 feet of distance between us.
Done. Still not visible without some detection means.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
If you were to go ahead and run through your turn, I think that would go well, Talic.
I will, largely, be unavailable tomorrow due to a moderately serious emergency in my peer group.Lagren: I took Livers Need Not Apply, only reflavoured.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
Run through? Elaborate. I've taken the entire turn, and declared turn end. I can't supply my opponent with information without knowing the buffs/abilities she has related to detection.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
Eff, I just remembered I have lucky start, but you were faster. At any rate, I'll cast See Invisibility. Activate Winged Boots. If I see Talic, I'll move 50ft towards him and 20ft up. If not, I'll move to L13, 20ft up.
Edit: There's actually no real reason to spoiler that, if it'll keep the match moving. <<;;Last edited by Sallera; 2009-06-10 at 01:11 AM.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
I'll need to know the effective range of your vision, Sa' along side some unspoilered spot and listen checks.
As I have your character sheet, in the future would you prefer that I make these checks for you?Last edited by Doc Roc; 2009-06-10 at 01:28 AM.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
Spot (1d20+17)[27], Listen (1d20+16)[26].
There shouldn't be any vision limit under these conditions. And yeh, feel free to make those if necessary.

Based on See invisibility and those spot/Listen checks, you see nothing.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
You don't need a shadow for HiPS, I take it. This is going to be... interesting. And probably short.
Anyway, sheathe dagger while moving to R5, 25ft up., quickdraw wand of shield.
UMD (1d20+14)[33]. Spot (1d20+17)[28] and Listen (1d20+16)[36] are probably pointless right now.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
No, I've got the Ranger variant, not the Shadowdancer variant. I prefer my HiPS to function in AMF... And when I snipe, my hide check goes into the "detectable" range.

My action: Moving.
Spoilerto R5 (single move, -5 penalties)
Move: Hear the unseen. Listen: (1d20+20)[35] vs DC 25.
If successful, I pinpoint all foes within 30 feet.
Done.

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
Yeah, I was thinking about that. Since me and my three clones are still fumbling around blindly here, move to R17, same altitude, sheathing wand. Quickdraw wand of grease, ready action to cast under your feet if I see you within the 30ft range. Pre-emptive UMD of (1d20+14)[28].

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
If you hadn't moved, I'd have still been in the 30 foot range. Of course, with your altitude, there's all of about 4 squares you can target, lol. 1 sec, and I'll plot my move.

If threat: (1d20+20)[39]

Spoiler5 foot step to R6

That would be one dead image, then. Suppose I should roll my spot/listen first... (1d20+17)[24]/(1d20+16)[28]

Re: Test of Spite: Talic vs Sallera
Alright, I still have no clue where you are. Going to sheath the wand of grease and draw my dagger, moving down 15 ft. Ready action to scorching ray (UMD (1d20+14)[15]) if I see you in range.
