If the druid dies, but the companion survives what happens to it?

It takes residence at a farm far far away from danger, where it can live out its days free running around the pastures.

It's the gms call. Either it turns back into a normal animal of its kind, or it keeps all the enhancements that it got from being an animal companion.
But it clearly does not die from the druids death.We are not standing on the shoulders of giants, but on very tall tower of other dwarves.
