    It takes residence at a farm far far away from danger, where it can live out its days free running around the pastures.

    It's the gms call. Either it turns back into a normal animal of its kind, or it keeps all the enhancements that it got from being an animal companion.
    But it clearly does not die from the druids death.

    Id have it keep its abilities, and dedicate itself to ressurecting the druid.
