Looking for a good archers guide
I did three searches on the forum and could not find it. Driving me nuts because I know I have seen one. Maybe it was in someone sig. It had advice on different build styles (sniper, crossbow, so forth) and advice on feats, weapon selection, and such. What I am really looking for is the link.
Just FYI end goal is
Going to be building a 12th or 13th lvl archer (using a bow of some type), with starting gold to match.
Already sure I am going to use Zen Archery, Knowledge Devotion, & master of poisons. The Zen Archer alt. Monk class has been approved.

Re: Looking for a good archers guide
Well, there's always the BG Archery guide, which while not finished, should contain useful material. Note, BG forums have decided to get FUBARd again.

Re: Looking for a good archers guide
They had been hacked somewhere in May. All PHP files rewritten to leave the site in a semi-functioning state but with SEO spam hidden in the pages and some server side scripts which occasionally redirected people to spam sites.
It took them till now to do something about it ... I would not put a lot of faith in the security of passwords you used there at the moment (the hash is secure, but they could simply have rewritten the server page to store it somewhere unhashed ... they had complete control basically).

Re: Looking for a good archers guide
I'm not really feeling that monk archer there ...
Even with Ki Shot I wouldn't count on it outdamaging a core ranger much, let alone a ranger using all the nice ranger archery spells from outside core.
PS. lets not get into artificer/archivist cheese.Last edited by PinkysBrain; 2009-09-20 at 09:00 PM.

Re: Looking for a good archers guide
We'll never know unless people learn how to properly link to that D&D wiki.
- Chameleon Base Class [3.5]/[PF]: A versatile, morphic class that mimics one basic party role (warrior, caster, sneak, etc) at a time. If you find yourself getting bored of any class you play too long, the Chameleon is for you!
- Warlock Power Sources [3.5]: Making Hellfire Warlock part of the base class and providing other similar options for Warlocks whose powers don't come from devils.

Re: Looking for a good archers guide
If you let the board make links it leaves off the trailing ), you have to make a real link using the vb code url tag.

Re: Looking for a good archers guide
I do not want to lose rounds casting spells when I could be shooting arrows. Shot for shot, you seem to lose out.

Re: Looking for a good archers guide
Exactly which sources are allowed?
If you don't mind using Soulbow, I suggest that. Soulknife2/Fighter3/Soulbow1/Whatever after that. Probably want to pick up Weapon Specialization in your Mindblade and whatnot.
If you can use Dragon Magazine, use Targetteer fighter. 2 extra arrows, and all arrows are at a -5.
If you can use Tome of Battle, you could make a Warblade archer with Time Stands Still to double your pleasure.
I can't read the link you posted, it appears to be wrong. No need to worry however.
If you're making a Zen archer, understand that strictly RAW it doesn't allow you to qualify for feats with a minimum dexterity prerequisite. Talk about that with your DM. There's some feat that gives wisdom to damage, so take that.
If you want to be a fighter, you're in luck because that works fine as well. Ranged Weapon Mastery, Greatbow, Splitting bow.
