    Default Naming a Weapon

In a recent D&D game my character acquired a +1 Icy burst greatsword. Not wanting to just refer to it as a +1 Icy burst greatsword though I have decided to name it.

Now the best idea I've had for a name so far is Icerazor. While I don't have a problem calling it that, I figured I'd ask and see what other ideas people may have for naming a weapon. (Whether it's my sword, or just named weapons in general)

... your name is Graywolf, and you have trouble naming a +1 Icy Burst greatsword? Really? Honestly and truly?

Fine, I say you should name it Varscona. I mean really! Come on!

I'd reserve that for a +5 Icy Burst Unholy Ghost Touch greatsword, or something of the like. Maybe better.
Give me any character, and I will give you a freeform conversion.

What race and class is your character, what kind of setting is it and what sort of society is he from?

+5 Anarchic Axiomatic Holy Unholy Greatsword. Just so that you get a negative level(or two) regardless of your alignment.

Did you conquer it? The name could give a clue about the previous owner (if s/he/it was infamous enough), or the battle you fought to get it rather than its abilities.

This sounds like the description of the mighty blade Oxymoron to me.

I think this showcases a good method. It's written for a character but they work just as well for a weapon.

    Sounds good to me.

If you don't want to go with that, I suggest finding the name of whatever god is associated with winter or cold or something like that and name it (Deity's) Razor or something. Assuming of course your god is on good terms with the god of winter.

The Butterfly is one of the most dangerous Agi-Weapons in a certain video game I play... (DotA, fyi)

Frostemourne, while obviously derivitive, is cool. Especially if you go for the whole "evil death-knight" thing.

Personally "The Blade of Frost" works for me. How about Black Ice?

I'm currently 94.4635% brain dead, so what does DotA stand for again?

And I suggested it because "No one ever suspects the Butterfly!"

My cousins first character was an arcane archer who had a +3 Icy Burst longsword made of black ice, "The Black Blade of Winter."

    Though for you, ...Rimefire?

But yeah, go with Varscona. You know you wanna.
