Naming a Weapon
In a recent D&D game my character acquired a +1 Icy burst greatsword. Not wanting to just refer to it as a +1 Icy burst greatsword though I have decided to name it.
Now the best idea I've had for a name so far is Icerazor. While I don't have a problem calling it that, I figured I'd ask and see what other ideas people may have for naming a weapon. (Whether it's my sword, or just named weapons in general)-Graywolf
“I found the Gith! Turns out, he can’t fly after all!”

Re: Naming a Weapon
... your name is Graywolf, and you have trouble naming a +1 Icy Burst greatsword? Really? Honestly and truly?
Fine, I say you should name it Varscona. I mean really! Come on!

What race and class is your character, what kind of setting is it and what sort of society is he from?

Re: Naming a Weapon
Did you conquer it? The name could give a clue about the previous owner (if s/he/it was infamous enough), or the battle you fought to get it rather than its abilities.
This sounds like the description of the mighty blade Oxymoron to me.

Icingdeath, Frostrazor, Chill Edge, Chill Touch, Winter's Breath, Jack Frost, Sharp Snow, Cold Snap, Bloodsnow, Shiva, Dire Winter, Wind Chill, Freeze, Freezer . . . you get the idea.

Re: Naming a Weapon
Make it adamantine (or get one that is) and name it Ice.

Re: Naming a Weapon
I think this showcases a good method. It's written for a character but they work just as well for a weapon.

Re: Naming a Weapon
The Butterfly is one of the most dangerous Agi-Weapons in a certain video game I play... (DotA, fyi)
Frostemourne, while obviously derivitive, is cool. Especially if you go for the whole "evil death-knight" thing.
Personally "The Blade of Frost" works for me. How about Black Ice?

Re: Naming a Weapon
My cousins first character was an arcane archer who had a +3 Icy Burst longsword made of black ice, "The Black Blade of Winter."
Though for you, ...Rimefire?
But yeah, go with Varscona. You know you wanna.

Re: Naming a Weapon
Yeah, the sword you are holding is already called "Varscona", so just call it by its real name
