[3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
Exactly what I asked. How well could I stat up Iron Man (Tony Stark). What classes, what items, what level, what stats, what feats? This is for a player of mine, and I've already managed to get him Dr. Fate, Captain Marvel and Batman, but I need help with this.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
Hmm, most iterations I see of Tony Stark are Artificers from the Ebberon Campaign Setting.
If you are willing to break with the established lore, you could make him a warforged which means he can self repair and with the Wand Sheath component in each arm you could emulate the blasters from the movie.
Other than that, I'm not really sure.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
First ask if you want a build Iron Man or Tony Stark. One is simple, Warforged Artificer. The other is simple also, Human Artificer.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
I want to build Tony Stark, with some way of getting something like the Iron Man suit. Artificer, yes, stats? Magic items?

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
Well there's This as far as homebrew goes.
Also Magic of Eberron has Renegade Mastermaker. Essentially you're turning yourself into a warforged, which is a pretty good approximation of iron man.Last edited by Kylarra; 2010-03-09 at 12:57 AM.

Those are excellent, particularly the homebrew. His homebrews are just amazing.

Strap multiple decanters of endless water to yourself and have a control system for them. You might be able to fly now.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
Warlock works too, doesn't it? Especially if you take that feat that lets you wear armor of one grade heavier and still be able to cast...

How about a warforged artificer?
You just need to refluff the superficial appearance and you're mostly good to go. His gadgets and such can be emulated with spells. To see the world in a grain of sand

Warforged warlock? Fell flight for persistent flight, EB for repulsor beams (albeit tad weak).

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
Specially the latest versions with the eletronic heart and all, also used in the movie.
Maybe a human half-golen artificer?
For the armor... full plate +5 heavy fort, energy resistance 30 (all), flight at will (medium/good maneuvathing), several detection abilities/sights, a blaster like attack. You can find it all in the treasure session in the DMG.

Half golem has a chance of going insane, though. I'd say Renegade Mastermaker is the best bet.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
If we re-fluff "insane" to be "alcoholic", we've got Tony Stark down cold.
Also, I just stumbled on this gallery:

Some of these might seem more setting appropriate inspirations while still maintaining the essence.Last edited by Jastermereel; 2010-03-09 at 12:22 PM.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
Personally, I like the decanter of endless water idea. Full plate, sovereign glue, and enough decanters will let you fly around and shoot water from your hands. Perhaps home brew some acid/fire/lightning/sonic/cold decanters for a variety of suit blasters. Oh, and a permanecied ghost sound playing "IRON MAN" attached to your suit.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
That's what I was thinking. Flight, blasting things, DR/energy resistance, and invocations that replicate some of the suit's fancier techno gizmos. Design armor that looks like the suit...
Of course the difference is that the power is in the man, not in the armor.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
Kylarra already linked to my homebrew, which pretty much covers everything I've read and seen about Iron Man (which is admittedly limited to the movie, the new cartoon, and the Avengers comics in the 90's). If there are additional powers or abilities you think belong there, let me know and I'll update it again.
I've also reworked the main cool off mechanic for the powers to work off of a battery (based on my Force Unleashed Jedi), instead of the 1d4 round recharge mechanic, which I found to be cumbersome during play testing if you have 2+ range attacks. But I haven't bothered to write it out and post it because I assume that some people prefer NOT running out of energy (which is a very common Iron Man trope at this point, thanks to the movie), and that most others wouldn't care. Maybe I'll take another crack at it though.

Re: [3.5] How well can I stat up Iron Man?
If you can find the Guardians of Order's d20 Mecha, (previously free pdf, but they went out of business) they have rule to make suits of power armor for almost any type of d20 game, including prices in all standard currencies (gold, credits, dollars, and even wealth). The Mecha Compendium has all the same rules as well as sample ideas, including campaign settings.
