Re: Centuars,any lore?
I'd be careful what you get from Greek myths. In D&D centaurs are normally CG and based off of Chiron the teacher of heroes in Greek myths who raised Theseus, and Jason and was accidentally killed by Hercules. He was also the son of Chronos.
Other mythical centaurs were a usually Chaotic Evil race and are pretty much always the bad guys (which is not how they are in D&D at all). Actually the centaur divination teacher from Harry Potter is fairly close to D&D centaurs. If you want the official fluff, though, go to Races of the Wild or the 2e Monster Manual.Peanut Half-Dragon Necromancer by Kurien.

Re: Centuars,any lore?
No matter what mythos you go by, Centaurs are definitely going to be chaotically aligned, with the exception of a few notable heroes.

Just use the squickiest lore available and no one will ask you again.
- Chameleon Base Class [3.5]/[PF]: A versatile, morphic class that mimics one basic party role (warrior, caster, sneak, etc) at a time. If you find yourself getting bored of any class you play too long, the Chameleon is for you!
- Warlock Power Sources [3.5]: Making Hellfire Warlock part of the base class and providing other similar options for Warlocks whose powers don't come from devils.

Re: Centuars,any lore?
How about Greek Mythology. If you really want to turn your player off of Centaurs, use this lore:

Re: Centuars,any lore?
You haven't read his Apprentice Adept series. The book has unicorns. These unicorns can shapeshift into people with horns on their heads. The main character's mount is also his girlfriend (no pun intended). It's was kind of a disturbing detail in an otherwise ok series.

Re: Centuars,any lore?
If you're really more interested in anything beyond Greek myth, than I can recommend two sources. Mongoose Publishing did a book called 'Slayer's Guide to Centaurs' at some point. Seems right up your alley; covers the CG, their religion, their lifestyles, has some PrCs and feats, etc. The only problem is that it's fairly rare, so you may need to find it as a PDF. Much more recently, Kobold Quarterly did an 'Ecology of the Centaurs' article, though I can't remember the specific issue. The centaurs here are a nice mix of the D&D and Greek myth versions.

Dragon Magazine #103 has an extensive article, the Centaur Papers. Rules are 1E, but the fluff may be helpful for you.
