Artificer: Pathfinder vs 3.5

[Chained Birds]

The Artificer is my favorite class in dnd. I've enjoyed many aspects and benefits for playing one; but the question is, which version is superior?

PATHFINDER VERSION
- gain gold instead of reserve exp when salvaging/retain essensing a magical item
- able to cast various lvl 1-4 spells at once via wierd science

3.5 VERSION
- craft a construct
- cast amazingly useful abilities on the fly via infusions

I was thinking the comparison should be between lvl 7 artificer's of their respected games as that is the level when they turn from being just the crafter to being an amazing blaster (if they want).
