That ending was reasonably funny, and shows Haley's family nicely. Looks like Haley's family has plenty of its own problems, although they're not even close to Elan's yet.

I'm a little concerned about Haley's Dad though. He seems a little overconfident, which might get the whole group in some trouble on the way out.

He's in one panel, during which the only action he takes is to exit the rest of the strip. I think most people are not so sick of a character that they don't even want to see that character leaving.
Congratulations, you can link to TV Tropes. This does not mean you have special insight into the storytelling process, much less the author's mind. Stories don't need to fit into neat boxes, you know.

You know, there's almost a tiny whiff of Elan about the old man, here. Good intentions with dippy execution of the plan -- sounds kind of familiar. Maybe we see why Haley's comfortable with Elan....?

Interestingly, Ian's statement that he's picked the door lock two dozen times indicates that, as I speculated in an earlier discussion thread, the lock can be picked from the inside and there was no way for Haley to simply get locked in, since she already proved her ability to pick it.

    Yay, new comic! So exciting.

Great setup for Ian to meet Elan.

I'm confused about how Ian's story matches up with the ransom note that Haley recieved... they don't seem to go together but maybe that is just me. What happened to Tyranar? And ransom? If Girard wanted to be captured?

Geoff and Ian are less moral than Haley and want to use Elan as a hostage against his father.
    What I learned from Bioshock:
    1. Unregulated freemarket capitalism leads, inevitably, to zombies. Genetically modified, super-zombies. This is an incontrovertible law of nature and should be taken into account whenever economic planning is done at a national level. The next time you meet a hardcore capitalist, just ask them if they are pro-zombie and see what they have to say for them self.
