Speaking of which, fake watermelon flavor is gross and I had apple pie flavored gum today. It's Willy Wonka in real life! If they can make apple pie flavored gum, they should be able to make watermelon flavored gum >:(

I've never actually had a watermelon flavored piece of gum. I've been devouring my stash of green-apple/granny smith/sour apple flavored gum though. Its delicious. Gum needs to last longer though, taste disappears too fast.

So I'm having a pretty big problem with my laptop. It suddenly no longer recognizes the existance of the wireless router. It's not a problem with the router, I'm using my Wii to get on the internet right now. And this also means I won't be able to post in my PbP games until tomorrow night when I ccan get on a different computer.

I'm drained, and I've yet to finish... who would have thought a boardgame could get so complex that I would have to start delegating tasks so as to not to faint, I'm mostly left in charge of art now that logistics and content have been sent to other departments (namely team-members for the group project), and even then, I'm overwhelmed.

Luckily my keyboard is pillow coated and has an off switch, neither of which I can use now...

I did see Tom Felton in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. It was a good movie, and he played a self-entitled prick again. Nothing more to say on that without going into spoilers.

(As an aside, yardwork? Really? That's part of the "horrors" of BCT? Not even "we had to cut the grass with dull nail clippers while lying on our bellies, in the RAIN!" or anything? Newsflash! Millions of people do yardwork on a weekly basis without a DI yelling at them about it. If he thought about it, that yardwork was probably a light day for him compared to what he was doing the other 6 days a week. I mean, for Pete's sake, if someone's going to tell about how much Basic sucks, at least make it good. )

The yardwork wasn't really meant as one of the horror stories, just a clumsy attempt to segue into the church-related activities.

When my dad went through BCT in the late '60s, the Drill Instructors were allowed to beat soldiers who were not performing to standard and "sock parties" were fact instead of fantasy. :

They threw a guy a blanket party because he was getting them "smoked" all the time.

On a final note, thank him from me, personally, for accepting the challenge and enlisting. Long gone are the days when active duty personnel could look down their noses at the "weekend warriors". It should be no surprise by now that National Guard and Reservists face the same risks as active duty service members these days and I have the same respect and gratitude for them as I do everyone else who volunteers.

I will. And I'll ask him all that stuff.

Also, I can totally imagine the future being lower tech instead of higher tech. It would actually be kind of nice. As the man said, progress might've been alright once, but it's gone on too long.

Oh no! As a future engineer, I'd say that (scientific) progress still is a good thing. The real problem is the materialism hysteria, which is why I suggest that we just digitalise all material possessions and settle down in small houses with the most kick ass computers of all time and practically nothing else...
