    Default City Maps

Apologies if this has been posted recently, I could've sworn that I had just seen a topic on this. But I can't find it now.

I am going to be running an urban-based campaign over the summer, and hence I need a good city map. It needs to be rather detailed, and preferably without too many labels or anything already superimposed over it. Do you guys know of any good sources for such maps? I've browsed around Google for some stuff, but really haven't come up with anything that suits my needs. It needs to be for a fairly large city (~250,000 citizens, which is a rather larger scale than DnD typically goes for).

I know I could make my own, but I'm lazy, I'm a college student, and I don't want to. Especially because I couldn't do a good job of putting in the amount of details to the map that I'd like to have without spending way more time than it's worth to me.

So, any thoughts? Any amazing sources for city maps that you guys use? Anyone want to draw me a city map?

Edit -- I'm only half-serious about the last question, but if you have brilliant art skills, loads of time on your hands, and you really do want to draw me a city map, send me a PM and I'll detail out some of the things I'd like on it.

There is a huge book called The World's Largest City. It comes with a load of fairly detailed maps, but is also pretty expensive.

I have Cityscape, and it's nice and has a lot of good ideas, but almost everything I've found in the DnD universe is focused around much smaller cities, like the 3,000 - 25,000 people range. I suppose I could possibly just scale up one of those maps to make it bigger, though...

Maybe you've found and rejected this site: http://historic-cities.huji.ac.il/historic_cities.html?

Otherwise, it might be worth checking out. For example, here is a map of Antwerpen in the 16th century, when it had a population of about 200 000: http://historic-cities.huji.ac.il/be...erg_I_17_b.jpg

See if you can locate a map of Waterdeep online. I know they exist, and it's a city of nearly a million residents. Some quick Googling turns up this, but I know there are complete maps floating around somewhere.

    WotC map galleries:
    Sharn
    Waterdeep
No labels or anything. I don't know if they're big enough, but they could be adapted.

Yes, indeed, the Wizards Map Galleries are very handy. What kind of city are you looking for, though? Modern? Medieval? Ancient? Futuristic?
