    Default Building a Gish

I'm building a Gish right now. Using Battle Sorcerer from UA, houseruled(as all sorcerers should be in some way) to only lose one spell per day, no spells known lost, and I get a free metamagic feat every 6 levels. I'm pretty sure I'm going Battle Sorcerer 7/Abjurant Champion 5/Battle Sorcerer 8, which gives me 20/20 CL, which I like. I've also taken the metamagic specialist variant from PHBII, as I despise familiars, and love metamagics.

    So far I have down:

    1 - Power Attack, Combat Casting(Human)
    3 - Extend Spell
    6 - Quicken Spell, Empower Spell(Sorcerer)
    9 - Arcane Strike
    12 - Rapid Metamagic
    15 - Mobile Spellcasting
    17 - Maximize Spell(Sorcerer)
    18 - ?

    ?s are open feats, obviously.

I'd like somemore feats to help me in melee. I was thinking Arcane Strike but then looked at Abjurant Champion and realized the redunancy in that. Otherwise, I dunno what is good for a gish.

Smiting Spell from PHB-II is a good choice. Also, ditch the familiar for the Metamagic Specialist variant in the same book. Lastly, Item Familiar (from UA) is a good choice. It's far better than a regular familiar.

    How do I reading comprehension?

But yeah, I got metamagic specialist. I hate familiars.

Smiting spell looks interesting, but I already plan on using some blasting for range, and even with normal sorcerer spells known, I dunno if I could fit in more touch attacks. Though being able to stick Vampiric Touch in a weapon sounds very handy.

If your into powerplay a dip in Spellsword is always a good choice. +1 BaB, +1 Spellcasting, d8 HD.

Maximize spell is probably not worth it. Arcane Strike (CA) is much more usefull.
Combat Casting is weak, Skill focus (Conc.) is better if you take it at all.
Improved Initiative. I recomend this for all builds, especially those who need buffs.
    Quicken Spell as a Sorc?

Oh yeah, should add Rapid Metamagic somewhere in there. Maximize/Empower are mostly there for stat draining and blasting from a distance if I need to, and they are free feats with our houserules on Battle Sorcerer.

Spellsword sounds nice, but I already have d8 hit die, and the only benefit would be the +1 BAB, so I dunno if I'll bother.

Combat Casting is a prereq for the completely awesome abjurant champion. Hey, for something as good as that, I'll take using one subpar feat.

Arcane Strike is better than what the AC's equivalent ability gives.
Spellsword also gives you a +2 to your Fort save.
Improved Sunder, Improved Bullrush, Cleave, Shock Trooper, Combat Brute.

I just reread Arcane Strike and realized it is a free action, which yes, is much better. Putting it in my planned feats now.

Mobile Spellcasting looks like it could be useful as well, it's like spring attack/shot on the run with magicks, except better, because magicks let you get in, actually cripple a foe, then get out with them barely able to follow if at all(seems especially nice with slow.)

You in theory can get +9 to untyped Attack Bonus (via sacrificing a 9th lvl spell) and +BAB*D4 damage (sacrificing a total amount of spells levels equal to your bab due to it being a free action.)

Item Familiar is great for its another cast spell.

Imbue Familiar with Spell Like ability can cast another spell.

    Belt of Battle

And there is one more way I am forgetting...

Swift action so it won't go off unless you are doing rkv.

There are things such as share spells with familiar/other things such as the "Nasty Gentleman" but those don't really count.
