It's Worldwide Adventure Writing Month!
Huzzah! June is Worldwide Adventure Writing Month.
Here's the premise: anyone and everyone with a passion for RPGs and a brainful of fun is challenged to write a 32 page adventure and share it with the world. Any system. Any story. GMs, Players, Newcomers, Pros. If ya don't feel particularly comfortable with one of the big systems, you could always write for freeform.
Apparently 32 pages was chosen as a generic benchmark for "Full Length Badass Adventures," and I figure with a couple of maps, stat blocks, and whatnot, this should be pretty manageable, especially compared to the event's inspiration, National Novel Writing Month (200 page goal for that one, *clutches heart*).
I'm pretty tempted... anyone else doing this?DM of the World of Koarch at Myth-Weavers

Re: It's Worldwide Adventure Writing Month!
It's officially run in the sense that people are working together to make it happen, mostly through the WoAdWriMo (or "WARM") website and associated partners.
As for some sort of U.N. or otherwise multinational government sponsorship of the event... not yet.DM of the World of Koarch at Myth-Weavers

Re: It's Worldwide Adventure Writing Month!
I did Nanowrimo, it was pretty cool. Is this for DnD or any sort of RPG? Perhaps even a from-the-ground-up system?

Heheh. Actually, I don't know how the final submissions are being received -- I'm guessing some sort of digital drop-box. But hey, I'll ask the founding folks just to be safe.
Definitely any sort of RPG. As usual, D&D is probably going to be the most popular option, but it's far from the only ship in the sea. A from-the-ground-up system would be pretty dang neat, I think.DM of the World of Koarch at Myth-Weavers

Re: It's Worldwide Adventure Writing Month!
You know, I think that would probably be alright. As long as there's some mild pretense connecting the encounters (whether in a linear or nonlinear fashion), I bet it would work. After all, a typical premade "adventure" is normally a whole lot shorter than a full campaign, and by nature is often less inherently tied into the characters' overarching story.

This does sound like a bit of fun. If only I had the time.
It is a joyful thing indeed to hold intimate converse with a man after one’s own heart, chatting without reserve about things of interest or the fleeting topics of the world; but such, alas, are few and far between.

Re: It's Worldwide Adventure Writing Month!
I would like resurrect this thread in order to point out that it is WoAdWriMo 2008 right now. Until next month, at least.
If anyone has any module ideas, long or short (a 32-page requirement is so last year), now would be the time to put pen to paper, people. Or fingers to keys, if you're one of those technophiliac types.
Here's the new website, by the way. You may find it useful.Last edited by Lord Rocket; 2008-07-03 at 07:47 AM.
