Default Psionics: Psion and 211 powers converted from Pathfinder (Dreamscarred Press)

Dreamscarred Press created the Pathfinder Psionics system that I am converting.

    Psionics!
I finally decided to bite the bullet and convert psionics to 5e. After a month of work converting powers and the Psion class I am at a state that is ready to receive feedback.
For those of you who don't know psionics is a system similar to magic that has existed since the beginnings of D&D. It has yet to make much impact in 5e (besides the UA article).

Psionics, in its simplest form, is harnessing the power of the mind and using it to perform tasks, feats, and awe-inspiring acts. It is the act of using the mental power innate in a psionic character to perform actions that others deem impossible.
While all characters have the capacity to harness this power of the mind, it is only by tapping into this potential that psionic characters are created. A psionic character has learned to tap into and utilize this internal energy, using it to expand their abilities or even to learn more about themselves. Once a psionic character has learned this pathway of psionics, it often becomes a path they cannot help themselves from further exploring. Like a moth drawn to a flame, so too is the mind drawn to the power of psionics once it has learned to tap into it.

I created Kryx's Psion and Kryx's Psionic Powers.

    Also Soulknife and Cryptic

EDIT: Psionic spells. You can find the updated Psion/Soulknife/Cryptic in my Houserules.

Thanks so much for taking the time to look and for any feedback provided.

Future plans: After the psionic system, powers, and psion has received some feedback I plan to create the Psychic Warrior which will likely be a Fighter archetype similar to Eldritch Knight. Then a rogue archetype similar to Arcane Trickster and then maybe the vitalist most likely as it's own class.

    Spoiler: About Me
    Show
I've cataloged, and quantified D&D 5e through several projects: DPR of Classes, Saving Throw Quantification and fixes, Spell Balance, Caster Comparison, and I'm sure a few others.
I've also done similar homebrew projects: Sorcerer Rework, Monk Rework, Summoner Class.
I mention the above primarily to inform you that I have worked with 5e quite a bit so I have a pretty solid grasp of how the game works. Though my work isn't perfect so please don't be intimidated away from providing feedback.

    Spoiler: UA Psionics Rant
    Show
The UA article on Psionics is not the psionics that I would expect - shoving everything into 1 class would be the same as shoving an Eldritch Knight, Wizard, Sorcerer, Warlock, Druid, Cleric, etc all into one class. The Psionics classes (or archetypes) are quite unique and deserve their own chance to shine. But enough of that rant, let's get into Psionics!

That looks like it took a good while to put together. I'll have to look through it more when I get to a real computer. Psionic powers are on my list of things to add to my classless system and this could help me out a lot of you're ok with it.

Here is the system I'm working on.

Since posting there have been several adjustments to powers and some minor adjustments to the Psion. The thread is more popular over on EnWorld if you want to read the comments there.

Additionally I've created the Soulknife and Cryptic

One question. Why Pathfinder and not 3.X official D&D?

Pathfinder psionics have a reputation for being of a higher quality. Dreamscarred Press did some great work on the system. They're pretty similar though.

D&D 3.5 psionics due to its wording of powers such as "grease, psionic" or "identify, psionic" comes off as arcane magic with different wrapping. While to an extent there are definitely some similar under the hood psionics has its own flavor and shouldn't be presented in such a manner - it cheapens the whole concept.

Noted. Reasonable, although I wouldn't (necessarily) pay homage to Pathfinder (and thus to Paizo) for what Dreamscarred Press did.

Noted, but Paizo paid for the system and legally owns the rights to the system that DSP created.

Besides if I were to say "Psionics converted from Dreamscarred Press" 95% of people would have no idea what Dreamscarred Press is. Most people know what Pathfinder is.

Oh, didn't know Paizo actually paying for 3rd party publishers for anything. That's honestly news to me!

Anyway, you're right. Non-Pathfinder players wouldn't know what Dreamscarred Press is. From that perspective it's alright to refer to Pathfinder. I would just (from a game-designer perspective) note in the OP where the real credit belongs to.

Perhaps they didn't pay them - I'm not sure actually. But I added their name in the title of the thread and on the first line. Hopefully that's sufficient.

    Any thoughts on the system?

    I suppose that's fine.

I'm afraid I have nothing on the system itself.

This post made me curious, but all the links except for the Soulknife link are broken. Does anyone have updated links, or copies of the pages, perchance?

    Hey,
Psionic spells is the updated link for those. You can find the updated Psion/Soulknife/Cryptic in my Houserules.

    I'll update the OP
