    Default Generalist Mage.

    Howdy Folks,
I'm prepping a character for an upcoming Forgotten Realms game, and I'm pretty set on playing a Sun Elf Wizard, using the racial subsitution level (at least the 1st one)

Anywho, I'm wondering what sort of spell selection, feats, and prestige classes would be good to take.

    Backstory wise
    - Much like human teens, he / she doesn't get along well with his / her parents, and in an effort to "snub" them, he hooks up with an adventuring group.

    - I'm toying with possibility of taking some fighter levels to give him a little bit more combat ability

I've got access to all the "Races" books except Ebberon, the complete FR 3.0 & 3.5 library, all the regional books (frostburn, etc) except for dungeonscape.

I look forward to your input

    edit...
I've also been told that I can't go Shadow Weave by my DM, he'd like to avoid the evil alignments for now.

Everybody is gonna simu me on this one... but...

Optimization wise, dipping into anything that doesnt give full caster progression is a BAD idea.

RP wise, if its what you like, then do it... but in all honesty, you will find there are plenty of ways to be battle-hardy as a full arcane caster, without standing in the front lines.

Of course, by the time I finish this post, it will already be obsolete. C'est la vie.

ya, scinse your starting at a low lvl speacalize in conjureration, X evoc and enchant, this will give you a nice spell boast at a low lvl.

elven racial substitution level is better than specializing, gives u the extra spell slot and extra free spells when u level but you dont lose access to 2 schools.....

still, i like the extra roll damage, and the farmilar thing in PHB2. the farmilar is just a hazard anyway.

You only get the spell slot for your highest level. Extra spell slots for every other level are nice to have, too.

which implies that I cannot be a specialist wizard.

Sometimes I do wonder if people actually read the post before the reply to it.
