Nice! Out of curiosity, if you were to put a number on it, what would you put as the circumstance modifier Roy got to bull rush that giant?

(I will accept 'just enough' as an answer )

Watch that last step. It's a doozy.

And this shows the difference between Bandana and Andi.

Not that it didn't work, but yes Bandana, letting your allies in on what you intend before hand will generally result in better execution of your plans.

Really nice artwork page 3 panel 1.

And the heroes save the day! The only loose end is Roy's sword--TBD is that's easy to grab or if it sank under the snow or otherwise got really lost.

Except we're in a story and she's captain of a literally plot-driven airship, and everyone knows that plans only work if you keep them a secret first!

And that is why Bandana is the captain and Andromeda is a glorified twelve-year-old babysitter all grown up.

And Roy loses another sword. Dammit, Roy, you should have legendary grip strength!

At least Furkini Menace likely lives to fight another day ... of which there may be about three, more or less.

Bandana is keeping Andy around for the duration of the current crisis. Vengeance is a dish best served cold, which won't be difficult in these climes. Yes, I know, it'll be justice, not vengeance, but who says there is never overlap?

Elan remains adorable. But it wouldn't surprise me if there were a way to dispel Xykon's various flight spells and then drop him from a great height. Preferably into an erupting volcano. Which is, by some poorly understood magic, erupting radiant energy while filled with an anti-magic field.

I expect the three giant slayers to take care of that, unless Rich needs another subplot.

But it wasn't a secret that there was a plan, and it wasn't a secret that Roy was to hurl Furkini Menace overboard.

Once again showing there's different sorts of smart. Andi presumably is smart in her field of engines, but Bandana is smart at battle tactics and thinking on her feat. Which one should be in command? ponders THE ENGINEER, DAMMIT. ENGINEERS SHOULD RULE THE WORLD. He said without any bias whatsoever.

Please to notice which OotS character Rich Burlew uses as his Twitter icon. Elan is the favorite (he also gets the girls!), no doubt about it.

Of course, part of being captain is that sometimes you have to give orders in situations which preclude that. Sometimes time is at a premium, as Vaarsuvius would say. :P

And what concerns me most is hoping that the female giant survives the fall.

She hardly looked worried, just ticked off. That's a positive sign. Heck, she's gotten more character development in just the few strips she's been in than most NPCs throughout the strip.

Especially when said ally is not obligated to follow your orders and/or may not have the same idea of your partial order as you do. (I suspect Roy would be at least irritated if he didn't manage to grab the railing because he had no idea the Mechane was going to turn sharply.)

Problem is, she tells Roy she'll turn, the frost giant kneels or holds onto the railing...

even if Roy had fallen off too that would still be a win for them because Roy could be collected later and the mechane remains airborne

Well, I guess if they can afford to resurrect Durkon, they can afford to raise Roy. I think Roy might have a problem with that though.
