hey everybody!
well i´ve looked for a thread for the portuguese translations and didn´t find one... I just don´t knoe how to translate encumbrance on the #27...
does anyone know?
here´s the translation...

actually portuguese is my first language too... I´m from São Paulo, SP...
but sometimes, the word just don´t fit... i can think in english but with one word or another i can´t find a good translation...

I started this cause a friend of mine don´t know english... so after i found the translation, I discovered that they didn´t translate much...
i think is not bad to work that out :)

There is some words that i dont know the exact mean too, but you can translate it by the context.

Im brazilian from São Paulo, SP and I'm about to begin my graduation in translation, so i though it would be a nice challenge to me. So far, so good, only a few things I would do differently.

I'm not happy with Durkon's translation because we're not taking in consideration his accent and it will be trouble when it is where the pun is placed like OOTS#305 but I cant think of any cool accent that would fit on him and not killing the character.

Well i changed the #27 for your translations, at the #28 i think rapier could go as florete... but rapiéire is the real name of the sword... if you look at the history of the "esgrima" http://miguel.gomes.com/esgrima/historia.htm
there´s something about that...
sabres for me swords like the arabian used(like a curved long sword)
and i think the "coisa gosmenta" translation is good... at least better than lulídea or lulesca...

I said "rapieira" and not "rapiera", and the translated name is that.

and rapier is not a sabre, they aren't the same weapon.

and i think the "coisa gosmenta" translation is good... at least better than lulídea or lulesca...

yeah i agree with u. The thing is that in my mind i dont see a mind flayer as an icky mob with goo all over him, so i dont like "coisa gosmenta" either, but in lack of better words this will do

I've made a quick check on SRD and there is no "sabre" in it, and in my PH 3.0 there is no "espadim". Either way, i take the "rapieira" as a translation to "rapier" 'coz, after seeing pics of 'em, i realized that they r indeed differents swords.

Well How i didn´t know how to make Durkan accent, i did that, at my firsts translation it was easy cause durkon didn´t speak anything with accent... but now we have to create something that is both written and spoken like... so why not? i started to think about the portuguese "internet grammar" could do something more realiable than anything else... well if anyone have other idea plz tell cause I don´t hav any other :P

On the "rapier" subject, in Portuguese you might refer to it as a "florete". At least in Portugal, not really sure about Brazil.

Well i though that too... but researching a little more "florete" is the "esgrima" sword, it´s called that way cause of the "flower" shape in it´s point... because of that i let "rapieira" go... rapiers probably don´t have this shape in it´s points... but thanks anyway :)

I'll be honest with u, i didn't like, but since I cant think of anything better, it will do for now. We'll get back at it later if some1 has a better idea.

That's a idiomatic expression: "there's no such thing as too safe" wich can be translated to a similar one in portuguese: "o seguro morreu de velho".

escolher 20, u know, the manouver of , in a test, choose to assume that u got 20 on ur roll at the cost of a great amount of time (a few hours trying).
