New comic. I'm guessing keybounce is having a holiday break, while it seems the Comic Irregulars aren't. Although I thought I saw one more commentary than there had been before, so maybe you're catching up?

The scene in the most current comic - I currently watch the first half of this scene, every second day as a cutscene in, of all things, the teeth-brushing-timer/distraction app we use with my daughter. Add that to the list of things to avoid, I guess, spoiler-avoiders - Oral B Disney Magic Timer. Easy enough if you haven't got an under-10-year-old kid, I imagine.

Spoiler: current scene in movie context
    Show
I saw it an hour or so ago, and mused on how they'd render it in comic - just in time, I guess. It's the scene where Finn gets BB-8 to tell Rey they're going to the Arlenium system, and BB-8 hesitates because Finn obviously has no idea, adding to BB-8's mistrust of Finn. It's crucial to the character dynamics in the movie, not to mention the exposition dump, and none of it comes across in the screenshots - the subsequent flamelighter thumbs-up is now interpreted as positive rather than menacing and ironic. Love it.
I'm pretty much the opposite of concise. If I fail to get to the point, please ask me and I'm happy to (attempt to) clarify.

The scene you're thinking of, memnarch, is when the Falcon is busting out of Tatooine at the start of A New Hope. Han lists some of the reasons you want to let the navigation computer finish the calculations.

Aha! It was Episode IV then, thank you. The other scene I'd thought it could be a part of was the asteroid field escape with the space worm, but wasn't sure where exactly it would have happened there.

Yes, it would have been difficult to work that in, given that a broken hyperdrive was just a bit of a plot point right then.

I knew Han was coming back because I had seen a segment on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, showing a highly fictionalized account of how J.J. Abrams and Stephen Colbert convinced Harrison Ford to be in the movie. They actually had Abrams and Ford film it.

Abrams tells Ford that, if Ford refuses to be in TFA, Abrams may have to cast Stephen Colbert as Han. Colbert then annoys Ford enough to convince Ford that he would rather be in another Star Wars movie than see Colbert take over his part.

Really, the main problem with the Falcon is that you can't tell the duct tape keeping the ship together apart from the duct tape that serves as navigational aids. At this point I'd be more comfortable adventuring with Serron than in this ship, at least the Legacy won't fall apart.

No, Han is arriving first. He should appear within the next two comics I guess. He's the one transporting the tentacle beasts,a nd the bounty hunters want him to pay his debts, so he unleashes that thing. Of course it could be that he's one of those bounty hunters and on the hunt for Han (you know to steal, I mean inherit, his former PCs stuff. And things go a bit wrong

Incidentally, the main reason why I always knew Chewbacca used a crossbow, more than the movies, is Super Star Wars for the SNES. A not insignificant portion of my Star Wars memories are actually from that game; if I hadn't re-watched the whole OT and PT in anticipation for the ST, I'd have trouble separating what's from that game (or maybe also the X-Wing / Tie Fighter flight-sim-style series) and what's from the actual movies.

And the lightsaber was completely busted in that game. An absolute pleasure to use too.

To be fair, you can miss a lot by just not paying attention. It's entirely possible that one or both of them have seen a trailer for the film but made sure to bury themselves in a book as soon as they raised what it was.

Plus, honestly, when I saw the film I expected these two to show up a lot later. I went in knowing they'd appear, but was expecting them in like the last few scenes to throw in a new plot thread going forward.

No, but it's not exactly hard to throw anther mystery box in here. Near the end of the movie Han and Chewie show up, tracking down a gungan Force Adept who's in possession of something very important to the Rebelliance. Maybe as a transmission in the last scene saying they've found them, and then allowing Film 8 to maybe jump back ten minutes to open with the Falcon landing on the planet...

Okay, Abrams would very much not write something like that, he'd more likely have Chewbacca show up twenty minutes in looking for Han, but have not actually decided what's happened to the smuggler. But I had no experience with Abrams at the time beyond the two Star Trek films he did, I've not even seen Lost.
