That guy and that other guy and that girl from Bulletproof Monk (gimme a break, I haven't seen it in a while) were definitely not square.

Someone should start compiling a list of funky monks.

Awesome! Though I think Drunken Master would kind of throw off the Funky requirement for Monks. Drunken Master seems like it would have to have a Funky alignment.

Undead are usually square, but liches are exceptions too. No way does Xykon have a Square alignment.

There is no way Durkon's funky! Look at his reaction! O.K., maybe it's not his kind of relationship, but a funky guy wouldn't overreact that much.

And Nale is really funky. He impersonnated his twin!

Really? Not to mention that he had to be at least a bit Funky to get into your linked situation to begin with.

And I'm detecting a serious lack of funkitude in Nale ... here and here.

I was having that same though, well not about Bulletproof Monk specifically just about monks in general. There has to be somebody out there using his fists with a funky style. I know there are non-monk classes out there from additional sources, that might apply still it'd nice to see among the core classes. Perhaps funky monks could have some minor alternate feature to regular ones?

I'll repeat it, he played the evil twin game! Nale is a perfect example of a dashing mastermind who sleep with a succubus*drools*.And it's common sense that a plan involving rocket skates is funky, but to use it is chaotic stupid, as Thog.

I completely agree with this, except for the "dashing mastermind" part. He has, so far, displayed no originality in his actions, as Vaarsuvius noted when he was trying to decide which twin to attack. That makes him considerably less funky, possibly enough to be neutral. Personally, I'd call him LEN with funky tendencies.

I'll also assume that the alignment chart is what is usual, though individuals and/or specific races within that may be different. For instance, Brass Dragons IIRC like to talk. A lot. Generally about fairly boring things. I think that that definitely qualifies them for Square. And I can think of a number of ways to make Funky Constructs.

Those are guidelines, naturally. Every type is going to have examples of funk, unfunk, and neutrality. Dragons in general are fairly funky, was the main point. It's mainly there to make it easy to convert preexisting campaign material into this new system without a lot of effort.

Also, I would agree that Nale is fairly funky.

    This is awesome stuff.

I may be misunderstanding, but "Blown Away" seems a bit weak for its place in "word of the day". Holy Word, Blasphemy, etc. have paralysis or confusion effects for 1d10 minutes at the same level.

Why not make the effect "Trippin' out" for 1d10 minutes? Roughly equivalent to confusion, but "babble incoherently" is replaced with "sing Puff the Magic Dragon", and "flee at top speed" with "disco away at top speed". And of course any time they attack, they scream about pink elephants or kidney thieves or something equally silly.

This Alignment System tottaly fits one of my favorate (3 Years running) D&D games i've been running with my freinds. I mean...how funky is it to play tennis with a great wyrm blue dragon for three days?

Actually, they just can't advance further as a monk if they're non-lawful, but they don't lose any abilities they already had.

Hmm. Just one potential argument for allowing Funky Monks. The standard "Old Master" archetype characters tend to be pretty cool guys.

I fixed it for you. You needed specifics, and you have to capitalize monster names like that, or people will think you're using the word in a normal context!

    And that would be square.
Now people are going to think I completely missed the point, I know it. If you're one of those people, it wasn't meant to be a correction, just some silly wordplay.
