Prestige Class Contest Voting Thread IV: This could be Heaven or Hell
Well, here's the voting thread for the fourth prestige class contest, This Could Be Heaven or Hell. Voting will consist of each voter giving a first, a second, and a third place vote, as well as a vote for the categories of Most Original, Most Likely to See Play, and Best Use of Theme. Anyone can vote, and in fact, entrants must vote to qualify for victory.
A first place vote is worth three points, a second place vote is worth two points, and a third place vote is worth one point. Votes for the three other categories are each worth 1 point in their category. You may not vote for your own entry.
You are encouraged to include reason with your votes, though this is not absolutely required.
The entry that ends up with the most points wins the contest, and each category goes to the entry with the most votes in it.. Voting starts now and will continue until 10:00pm (GMT) on July the 24th.

Re: Prestige Class Contest Voting Thread IV: This could be Heaven or Hell
Hey! What's the point of taking power in a bloody coup if you're going to disqualify yourself? :D I'm sure we'll be fine if you take another few days to polish off the RS - just replace the alignment points with a simple paladin-type vow and you'll probably be good to go. Only if you're up for it of course!
EDIT:
1st Place - The Keyholder. An excellent mixture of flavour and mechanics.
2nd Place - the Hellbound Cultist. Elegant in it's simplicity, and fills a theurge niche that has been neglected (so far as I know).
3rd Place - the Planestrider. The Planar Training ability is a bit broken (so it works with fighter bonus feats? with spellcaster's spells?) but most prestige classes are just straight buffs anyways. Has a definite function, and accomplishes that function.
Most Original - the Keyholder. I really like the other background stuff you brewed - the NPC, the magic item, etc.
Most Likely to See Play - the Hellbound Cultist. Slots in well to preexisting builds.
Best Use of Theme - the Keyholder (I think apart from this entry and the Righteous Sinner, the rest of us forgot to incorporate Heaven as much as we did Hell haha).Last edited by rferries; 2018-07-22 at 02:09 PM.

Re: Prestige Class Contest Voting Thread IV: This could be Heaven or Hell
Not sure why we got so few entries overall this time. My votes as follows:
1. The Purgator- the idea of dangerously living close to the edge of evil while using it against itself is fun, and the mechanics seem good.
2. The Planestrider Looks like it would be fun. It has a narrow theme, and there's a danger when one this narrow a theme that it won't be useable in regular play, but this seems to have enough that could be used for regular play that it avoids that.
3. Hellbound Cultist I'd really like to put this higher up. Two things prevent that. First, it is hard to evaluate the class as a whole, and the mechanics, when we don't have the vestige versions of the archdukes to work with. Second, you only end up getting to bind one of the 9 dukes, and I don't know how much flexibility/power that will end up being. Without the dukes statted out this is hard to estimate. I really hope we'll get to see them statted up later.
Most Original - Hellbound Cultist I don't think I've seen anything like this before. The closest is the Tenebrous Apostate but this is pretty clearly a different idea with a different focus. The idea of binding the dukes is really neat.
Most Likely to See Play - The Purgator The mechanics and fluff fit well with ideas that many people want to play.
Best Use of Theme Planestrider does a good job of making it clear that there are a lot of planes out there and that there's interesting stuff out there.
It is too bad that Righteous Sinner has been disqualified, otherwise it would probably get some voters as well. I really hope we'll get to see a completed version by Jormengand later.Last edited by JoshuaZ; 2018-07-18 at 06:45 AM.

Re: Prestige Class Contest Voting Thread IV: This could be Heaven or Hell
1- The Keyholder: Great flavour, and simple enough mechanics that it can be used quite versatily
2- The Purgator: Looks so fun to play! But I just prefer the Keyholder
3- Hellbound Cultist: Would be more useful if we had the stats for the dukes.
Most Original: Hellbound cultist: Everything else I've seen similar things before. I can't describe this using other classes
Most Likely to see play - The Keyholder: I want to play it. There you go XD
Best Use of theme - The Keyholder: Planar travel ftw!Your friendly neighbourhood sniperman.

Now that the base class contest is closing, shall we finish this one too? Any chance of voting, Mr. Nobody? :)
